Nelly is a beautiful Klein German Spitz mix weighing just 6kg. She is a happy little soul with a heart full of love and is looking for a patient, understanding family to call her own.

When Nelly first came into our care, she was incredibly scared and disoriented. It took her a few weeks to feel safe enough to come out of her shell, but once she did, we discovered the sweetest little girl who absolutely adores affection.

Nelly is obedient, very loving, and enjoys being around people. She can be a little cautious when meeting unfamiliar faces, but once she feels comfortable, she forms wonderful bonds and loves being close to her favourite humans.

One thing we’ve learned about Nelly is that she is very fearful of being picked up. Initially, we were concerned she may have been injured, but after a thorough veterinary examination and weeks of observation, our vet could not find any physical issues. We believe this fear is likely linked to trauma from her past. We may never know what happened to her before she came into our care, but we do know she deserves someone who will respect her boundaries and help her continue building confidence.

Despite this fear, Nelly is an incredibly affectionate little girl. She loves curling up beside her favourite person on the couch, rolling onto her back for tummy rubs, and even jumping onto your lap for cuddles. In those moments when she feels completely safe and relaxed, she sometimes forgets her fear and can even be picked up without yelping.

Nelly enjoys all the simple pleasures in life. She loves zooming around the backyard, relaxing on the couch, and, of course, eating! Her favourite treats are chicken jerky and Laughing Cow cheese. She is currently fed Royal Canin Mini Adult kibble, which she has access to throughout the day, a raw chicken neck for lunch, and a healthy home-cooked meal for dinner.

Nelly is a happy, gentle girl who has so much love to give. She simply needs someone who understands that healing takes time and is willing to let her build trust at her own pace. In return, she’ll reward you with endless affection, companionship, and plenty of smiles.

We believe Nelly would be best suited to a home with adults or older, respectful children who understand the importance of giving her space when she needs it.

7. How many hours will Nelly be left alone each day, and who will assume the responsibility for her during your absences or holiday periods?

8. Are you in a position to provide Nelly quality veterinary care and nutritious food?

9. Will Nelly be considered as a family member, living indoor with outdoor access as she pleases? Please describe her proposed sleeping arrangements.
