Matilda

We would like to introduce to you a very special girl named Matilda who requires a very special person in her life. Matilda was used for breeding and has been very badly abused.

This beautiful soul, has suffered great torment in her last 5 years and now suffers terribly the PTSD that goes along with long standing abuse.

Matilda is a 5-year-old female, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, ex breeder, possibly some beagle mixed in there as she is a bit bigger than the general size of the Cavalier weighing in at 17kg.

Due to Matilda living continuously in a crate for 5 years everything is larger than life...Matilda is passionate about everything she does, her food, her attention on you, chasing the birds, sniffing everything she comes into contact with outside, she just loves to experience what its like to be a dog at its highest level.

( A harness that is quick to put on is a must as a collar brings out the PTSD).

As she's a Cavalier and Cavaliers love to talk, Matilda is no exception. It's nice to sit and chat with her, but due to her emotional dysregulation, she finds it difficult to understand the difference between her happiness and her distress so vocalisation can range from a nice quiet chat to an extremely loud cry.

Everything that has emotion is both exciting and confusing to her so again vocalisation shows both happiness and distress. Also researching how to help her with this emotional dysregulation will help her in leaps and bounds.

Matilda has been assessed and put on two types of medication which have helped tremendously. The person that comes into her life would need to be very responsible and vigilant in making sure that she gets her tablets twice a day without exception... thinking that she could go without them because she's doing so well would be a great mistake, so keeping her grounded and feeling safe is something these medications help with.
We know this sounds like a big ask and such hard work, but she's not, not with the right person. She has the most beautiful sweet temperament, despite what she has gone through she has a very forgiving heart and loves everyone she's come into contact with. She gets along well with other dogs, though I'm inclined to believe she would love to experience that special one on one which she clearly has never had.

Just on a side note, given Matildas prey drive is strong so she would not be good around birds or other small animals and possibly not cats. She is however, good with dogs of all sizes.
