About Joe
Meet Joe, a regal fawn beauty who is roughly ninety percent love and ten percent legs!
Joe's greatest ambition in life is to become one with the couch. He loves his two big walks a day, but once that box is ticked he considers his work done and clocks off for a well deserved nap. Not a big zoomer, he would be perfectly content in an apartment as long as he gets his strolls, and like the gentleman he is, he walks so nicely on a loose lead and would never deign to pull or behave improperly.
At home, Joe is the easiest company you could ask for. He enjoys a little play with his squeaky toys, then folds his long self onto the couch and rests his head in your lap like you're his personal pillow. He can be left alone without much fuss and travels well in the car.
Joe is certainly food motivated, which is a polite way of saying he would probably sell you for a piece of cheese. He picks things up pretty fast (for a greyhound) and loves a treat. Somehow this enthusiasm does not extend to the kitchen bench, which he could absolutely reach but where his manners are mostly impeccable. No counter surfing, minimal begging, just a dignified false pretence that he was not thinking about your dinner the whole time (yes Joe, we can still tell. Your drool and teeth chatter gives you away).
Out and about, Joe greets everyone he meets like they were put on this earth for the sole purpose of scratching his ears. He does this in a calm, low key way though, no jumping or fuss, just a hopeful sniff and a big eyed look that says he would not say no to a pat. He gets along with all other dogs he meets on walks too. He has been a happy solo dog in foster care, but Joe gets along fine with canine guests, big or small, and would be happy to have a furry brother or sister in his new home (non-canine smalls are not included in the friendship circle though, and cats are best avoided).
With another dog for company, or access to a yard to potter about in, Joe would be fine with humans who insist on leaving him behind, but with his easy going temperament and friendly nature he’d be well suited to a dog friendly workplace too (so long as you don’t mind being interrupted with all the visitors he will attract).
If you are after a calm, gently comedic mate who asks for very little and gives back a whole lot, Joe would love to meet you.

Thinking about adopting?
We’d love to help you find your greyhound match!
To get started, we’ll ask for a bit of information about your home and lifestyle on our application form. This helps us make sure we match you with a dog that suits your household and sets both of you up for success.
Many greyhounds come from racing kennels where they’re used to having other dogs around. Some can struggle being left completely alone, which can lead to signs of separation anxiety like barking or chewing.
Because of this, we usually look to rehome greyhounds into homes where they’ll have company - either human or canine - and not be left alone for more than four hours on a regular basis. If that’s not your setup right now, don’t worry as we’re happy to chat about options such as dog walkers, doggy daycare, or taking your greyhound to work.
Our Adoption Checklist:
To be considered for adoption, we ask that you have:
A secure, fully fenced yard (minimum height around hip height)
A home where the dog is allowed to sleep inside at night
A routine that doesn’t leave the dog home alone regularly for long periods (more than 4 hours) without people or another dog for company
If you’re not sure whether you tick every box, please still apply! We’re happy to have a conversation and see if we have a greyhound who might be the right fit.
Please fill in as much detail as you can as there’s no word limit on any question.
