About Walter
🐾 Meet Walter – The Silly Walnut with a Heart of Gold 🐾
Walter is a 30kg, 9-month-old desexed German Shepherd mix with a silly goofy personality, an even bigger heart, and enough enthusiasm for life to keep you smiling every day.
Walter was abandoned by his family at a pound at such a young age , he spent almost 3 months at the pound. Whilst his smaller cutter friends all got out , Walter kept being overlooked due to his size.
That's when our charity tailsoftheforgottenpawsau.org.au knew Walter needs our help.
So we took Walter into our care. Pound staffs said he is one of their favorite there. Always lovely with other dogs and people.
He is Smart, affectionate, playful, and wonderfully entertaining, due to his breed mix Walter isn't looking for just any home—he's looking for his people. A home with experience of similar breed particularly the German shepherd side.
In the right environment, with the right committed loving family who understands his breed, Walter has all the makings of an absolutely incredible companion.
His trainer from WonderPaws said it too. Walter has been catching up with life skills under the guidance and coaching of https://www.wonderpaws.com.au/
The right adopter for Walter will receive a handover session of his training.
Walter is a young, high-energy boy who thrives when he has structure, clear boundaries, and plenty of opportunities to learn, play, and explore. LIKE all young dogs, he needs enough mental stimulation.
He walks well on leash, knows basic obedience , toilet trained and house trained, incredibly intelligent and eager to engage with his humans, making him a fantastic prospect for someone who enjoys training and building a strong positive bond with their dog.
Walter is great at the vet too. He has such a soft heart ❤️, a lover not a fighter.
❤️ Walter's Favourite Things
🐾 Playing tug with his people
🐾 Chasing balls (obsessed is an understatement!)
🐾 Collecting and shredding sticks of all shapes and sizes (although we recommend to not encourage this too much for safety reason)
🐾 Rolling around in leaves like they're the greatest invention ever
🐾 Car rides—especially when they end at a park or somewhere exciting
🐾 Spending time with his favourite humans
🐾Learning more about the big world 🌎
🏡 Walter's Ideal Home
Walter would love a home with: ✔ Experience with a young high-drive, active dogs
✔ Someone who is home more than not and committed to continuing his training and development
✔ Someone who is consistent and kind in their approach to training him
✔ A secure, well-fenced yard
✔ Regular adventures, park visits and enrichment activities
✔ Patience, understanding and lots of love
✔ A playful well balanced canine companion with a similar energy level and play style will be a dream come true
Walter is still very much a puppy so with any puppies , left bored without enough stimulation, they will tend to get into mischiefs and can be destructive etc.
So Walter's forever family must be a family that is active and enjoys being active with Walter making him your sidekick and including him as a part of the family.
🐕 About Walter
Walter loves other dogs but is still building confidence around those unfamiliar ones that are coming in hot and direct. He can be a little timid when bid bold personality dogs approach him, however he warms up beautifully with proper introductions and enjoys playing once he's comfortable.
We have been very careful in protecting his great temperament and only allowing interaction with known dogs . Dogs that we know are well manered and socialised to ensure Walter has positive social experiences
We do not go to dog parks due to the well known risk of unwanted incidents with random unknown dogs that are not compatible or well behaved.
Walter has lovely dog manners and responds exceptionally well to corrections from other dogs, engaging in balanced and respectful play regardless of size differences.
Walter is not particularly vocal, although he does have a flair for dramatic tantrums from time to time. Expect the occasional pouty howl, frustrated bark, or expressive whine when life isn't going exactly his way.
He is crate trained.
He sleeps quietly in his crate overnight or in the lounge /dining room and he travels well in the car.
🍲Walter's Diet
He eats mixed diet consisting of premium dry food /freezed dried, freshly cooked food and high quality raw food as well as fresh bones for his dental hygiene.
2 meals a day and he has no food allergies etc.
very food motivated ,always hungry 😋 *he is a growing boy*
💙 Walter's Perfect Match
Walter is looking for someone who sees the potential behind his young age and goofy antics—a person who loves the German Shepherd traits and willing to invest time in a young dog who is still learning about the world and discovering how to navigate it confidently.
If you're looking for a loyal adventure buddy, a training partner, a tug champion, and a dog who will make you laugh every single day, Walter might just be your perfect match.
Walter isn't for everyone—but for the right person, he will be absolutely everything. 🐾💙
