READY FOR ADOPTION – MEET NASH

Nash, better known as Nashy, is an approximately six-month-old male Staffy mix weighing around 11 kg and will likely grow into a medium-sized dog.

With his glossy deep-tan coat, big floppy ears and beautiful amber eyes, Nash is just as lovely to look at as he is to know. Nash and his three siblings were surrendered to a rural critical pound in New South Wales after spending the beginning of their lives without reliable access to food, water, care or human affection. They arrived severely underweight and in heartbreaking condition.

Despite his difficult beginning, Nash was over the moon to meet his foster family. With time, routine and reassurance, he has regained his health and blossomed into a happy, confident and deeply affectionate little boy.

Nash is bold, highly intelligent and full of personality. He loves noisy toys, tug-of-war, frozen treats and snuffle mats, but cuddles will almost always be his first choice. Whether he's curled up on your lap, burying his head into you or chatting away with his hilarious collection of Staffy grumbles, stretches and happy noises, life with Nash is rarely quiet, but it's always entertaining.

Highly food-motivated and eager to learn, Nash already knows sit, down, shake, crate and toilet cues, along with several household routines. He responds beautifully to calm, reward-based training, is crate trained, sleeps through the night, is mostly toilet trained and is largely past the teething stage, rarely chewing inappropriate items.

Nash is confident and social with other dogs, naturally adjusting his play style to suit them. He travels well in the car, remains relaxed around thunder, rain, household noises and dogs barking through fences, and is comfortable having his paws, ears and mouth handled. Nash adores children, though, like any young puppy, supervision is recommended while he continues learning not to jump up when excited.

Nash is still learning that being alone is okay. He may whine initially when left but settles well in his crate and has never been destructive. He would thrive in a home with another friendly, well-socialised dog to provide companionship and confidence, particularly if his family is away during the day. His ideal home will continue the training, structure and love that have helped him become the wonderful young boy he is today.

Nash already knows what it feels like to go without. Now he is learning what it means to feel safe. He is searching for the family who will show him that food will always come, affection will never disappear and he will never again need to wonder whether he belongs.
