About Arlo - 12-week-old Miniature Dachshund
Arlo is a 12-week-old Miniature Dachshund who may have been born with a little extra challenge, but he certainly hasn’t let it slow him down.
Born with a congenital defect affecting his front leg, Arlo takes on the world with endless determination. He hops, bounces, tumbles, and zooms around with so much confidence that it’s impossible not to fall in love with him. His quirky way of getting around is part of what makes him so incredibly special.
Arlo is affectionate, playful, and absolutely adores his people. After a day of exploring and playing, you’ll usually find him curled up on your lap, soaking up cuddles. He’s a resilient little soul who has no idea he’s any different from any other puppy.
Our veterinary team has assessed Arlo and, at this stage, they are hopeful he will keep his leg. He will require X-rays at the time of his desexing (around 6 months of age) so his leg can be reassessed as he grows. He will also benefit from physiotherapy and ongoing monitoring to ensure he remains comfortable and mobile throughout his life.
For this reason, Arlo is looking for a family who understands that his future may involve additional veterinary care and who is committed to providing whatever support he needs. In return, you’ll have one of the happiest, funniest, and most loving little companions you could ever hope to meet.
Arlo’s ideal home:
- A flat home with no stairs, or a home fully equipped with safe ramps
- A friendly, confident resident dog to help build his confidence and teach him good - manners
- Someone home more often than not to continue his toilet training and puppy education
- A family committed to continuing his crate training and providing ongoing enrichment
- Owners willing to provide any future veterinary care, physiotherapy, or treatment he may require
- A home where he’ll be welcomed inside as a much-loved member of the family
Arlo doesn’t need someone to feel sorry for him. He needs someone who sees his spirit, his resilience, and his enormous capacity to love.

His adoption fee is $900 which includes his desexing when he is old enough. It also includes his first two vaccinations. He has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped.
Arlo is in foster care in Niagara Park, NSW. Since he is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. He will need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing when he’s 5 to 6 months old.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:

(2) If the questionnaire is approved, we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've applied for.
(3) Next, we will arrange for you to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or at a nearby park.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay the adoption fee*, sign the NSW change of ownership form and our DRN Adoption Agreement and take your new family member home! The two week trial period begins on the day of adoption.
*We prefer payment by funds transfer and don't accept cash or personal cheques.
