About Sam
Meet Sam, a charming 5-year-old gentleman who's had a bit of a rough start in life but is ready to find that special place where he can truly feel at ease. Although he's had a bumpy journey, Sam is full of potential and eager to share his affectionate nature with a loving family.
Sam may initially come across as timid, but once he feels at ease, his loving personality shines. He takes time to trust, and he asks for patience and understanding while he adjusts to new surroundings. However, when it comes to other dogs, Sam is wonderfully genial, enjoying their company. His love for daily walks cannot be overstated; with each outing, his confidence blossoms as he meets new canine companions along the way.
Despite his chihuahua roots, Sam is a robust fellow, weighing in at around 7 kgs. He thrives on mental stimulation, enjoying enrichment toys and puzzle feeders that challenge his clever mind. Be prepared for a loyal, clingy friend, as Sam adores being around his humans. This endearing trait means he would thrive in a home where someone is present most of the time, alongside a friendly dog buddy or two to help bolster his confidence.
Car rides are not among his favourite activities, as they make him nervous, but with time and gentle reassurance, there is hope for progress in this area. Sam is not one to be captivated by traditional toys, but his love for enrichment and mental challenges showcases his intelligent, problem-solving nature.

Medical notes
5 year old Sam is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with flea, tick, intestinal worm and heart worm prevention.
He’s had a full check up including bloods and is a healthy boy. He’s also had a dental whilst in care and had about 7 extractions.
We recommend, as with all small breeds, regular vet checks to monitor dental health and overall wellbeing

Chihuahua Rescue QLD Inc. is not a first to apply rescue group.We re-home our dogs based on the best possible family we can find them.
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.

Due to the large volume of inquiries we are unable to respond to all applications. If you are considered suitable for the dog you have applied for you will be contacted witihin one week of applying.
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form - only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Browns Plains, Jindalee or Kedron vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
