Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- An owner prepared to manage his steady rehabilitation over the next few months
- A smaller backyard to limit his zoomies
- Children over 12 years
- Previous experience with dogs

Xav is a stunning dog who will certainly turn heads when you walk down the street. He is a big boy and with his rich fawn colouring and white markings he is very striking. The luxurious soft, thick fur on his neck makes patting him feel more like a polar bear than a greyhound!

Xav just wants to plonk down beside you - wherever you are – working at your desk, watching TV or doing some gardening. He wants to be your best buddy!

When you come back home, his greetings are very exuberant and then he transforms into a gentle giant! We are working on teaching him that he doesn’t get the pats he desperately desires until he calms down. Hence, because of his lively nature, he is best in a home with Secondary School aged kids.

He also gets very excited when a leash is produced, but he does walk well on lead and is well behaved around other dogs he sees on the street. Xav is happily living in foster with other greyhounds without any issues.

He is only a young boy - having just turned two years in May and so still a puppy in many ways. He can jump into the car unassisted and travels well – he just lies down and snoozes. He is a confident dog who is always ready for a new adventure or give a friendly greeting to anyone he meets. He is of course toilet trained and will stand near the door to let you know he needs out.

MEDICAL TREATMENT: Xav recently had OCD surgery on his shoulder at Port Phillip Animal Hospital, and his vet records will be made available to his new family. Xavier is no longer in pain, and the vet is very happy with his progress and believes he will make a full recovery in the next few months. He is fine to go for daily walks, but zoomies need to be discouraged in the immediate period. He can’t do any further damage to his shoulder, but if he overdoes things he may be temporarily sore or favour his front leg.
