Meet Fletcher, a super-snuggly young Red Cattle Dog mix with all the loyalty you would expect from a red dog — and then some.
Fletcher can be a little reserved when he first meets someone new. He likes to take a moment to work you out, but once he decides you are all right, he warms quickly and becomes an affectionate, devoted companion. He is very keen to please and genuinely wants to do the right thing.
And while “young Cattle Dog” might suggest a dog permanently running at full throttle, Fletcher has a very effective off switch. He enjoys a play and an outing, but is equally happy lazing around the backyard with his foster brother or stretching out on the floor near his people and simply keeping them company.
Fletcher is house-trained, walks nicely on lead and is learning his basic commands. He will sleep in a crate when necessary, although given the choice he would much prefer the couch — and, if invited, he is quite prepared to consider himself a lap dog.
He is calm and gentle around the home, not a fence jumper, and has lived happily with pre-teens and teenagers who adored him. He also enjoys a good goat horn to chew on when the mood takes him.

Fletcher is looking for a home where he will be treated as part of the family, with companionship, sensible exercise, continued training and plenty of affection. He has all the makings of someone's very devoted best mate.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
