🐶 Meet Kya – The Duchess with a Heart of Gold! 👑💕🐾

Kya is a beautiful, sweet-natured girl with soulful eyes, a gentle heart and an elegance all her own. Her foster family has lovingly nicknamed her “The Duchess”, thanks to her beautiful mix of strength, serenity and grace — especially when she’s wearing her ‘pearls’! 😊

Kya absolutely loves being around people and is the sweetest little shadow without being clingy. She’s happiest simply being near her humans, whether that means following you around, relaxing by your side or snuggling up on the couch for an evening of pats and cuddles. She’ll happily wander over to say hello to someone with a big smile, looking for some affection, but if you call her, she’ll come straight back to your side.

And when it comes to good manners, Kya is an absolute star! She barely needs a lead because she is so well behaved and has excellent recall. She can be taken on all sorts of adventures, although big crowds can make her a little anxious. She loves exploring the park and beach, swimming, chasing a ball and running around the mudflats, but she always comes back to her person. Even when she heads outside, she will wait by the gate until called rather than wandering off.

Kya is also wonderfully easy-going. She isn’t bothered by everyday household noises such as vacuums or power tools, and she’s perfectly happy around water and the hose, making bath time nice and easy. She has a lovely thin coat and is currently shedding her winter coat.

Despite her age, Kya is a wonderfully healthy girl — and you certainly wouldn’t know her age! She can run, jump and play and barely seems to get tired. She still has plenty of energy for adventures but is equally happy settling down beside her favourite person afterwards. ❤️

Kya is lovely with other dogs. She is curious and will happily approach to say hello and see how they respond. If another dog becomes too enthusiastic, she is usually submissive, either giving them a little bow or simply walking away when she has had enough. We have seen no signs of aggression.

She is also gentle with children and enjoys receiving pats, although she would probably be best suited to a home without young children, or perhaps one with older teenagers who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs.

The one thing Kya finds difficult is being left alone for long periods. She becomes stressed when separated from her people, so she would be happiest with someone who is home most of the time — perhaps someone retired or semi-retired, or even someone working from home. With plenty of companionship, love and a predictable routine, we truly believe Kya has so much happiness to give.

We have a feeling that whoever welcomes this beautiful girl into their life will very quickly fall completely in love with her. She is gentle, affectionate, well behaved, adventurous and incredibly devoted — a very special Duchess indeed. 👑❤️
