About Duchess
*In foster care in Newtown, Sydney*
Duchess is a sweet, gentle little lady with HUGE green eyes and fancy calico puzzle coat. She adores human company and is VERY strict about getting her bedtime snuggles! At the same time, she has an independent streak (especially during the day), and tends to keep herself busy during work hours. Her foster carer maintains that she has a full time WFH job as an ornithologist :) In addition to documenting the local birdlife, Duchess also enjoys chin scratches, delicious food, and standing like a meerkat!
Duchess came into the pound system and was stuck there for 6 months. Finally she had a home lined up however she was in need of a dental putting her at risk of euthenasia due to funding challenges. Maggie's stepped in because bad teeth isn't a reason to die!! She got the dental she needed and is ready for a life of comfort and the safety of a forever home.

Like all Maggie’s pets, Duchess is microchipped, desexed, and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... will be on the calm side, with plenty of spots for birdwatching, a solid bedtime routine, and a nimble set of hands for chin scratches! I'm occasionally cautious around new people, but I warm up quite quickly. I'm very-low maintenance overall!
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I much prefer to quietly hang out with you, accepting all your love or just chilling contentedly, than racing around and exploring. I do like the occasional game with a toy, though!
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Being such a soft-natured cat I'm likely to be fine with kids who are just as gentle and kind as I am.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I've only ever been a solo pet so it's hard to say.
Medical notes
Gingivitis - Duchess has had a dental scale and clean in preparation for her adoption. Gingivitis can be managed with diet and supplements. She may require further dental procedures in future.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
