Her Eyes May Not See You, But Her Heart Will!
Dora is a very sweet, affectionate and friendly girl who loves spending time with her people. Being blind, she is still a remarkably tolerant dog and has shown no signs of aggression, even when startled. Dora enjoys attention and affection, is comfortable with handling and touch, and is happy to be picked up, although she can be quite wriggly. One volunteer described bathing her as being “like bathing a fish,” which perfectly sums up her lively personality. Easy-going and happy, Dora particularly loves receiving pats and will often seek them out as a way of connecting with the people around her.
Despite being blind, Dora is a confident little dog who learns to navigate her surroundings quickly and adapts well to new environments. She walks nicely on lead with gentle guidance and reassurance from her handler and does not let her lack of vision hold her back. Dora loves squeaky toys and enjoys exploring her world through sound, making playtime especially fun for her.
Dora has a few quirky behaviours that make her unique. She has been observed spinning in her pen from time to time, although she does not chase her tail. While the cause is unknown, it may be related to a neurological condition. These little quirks are simply part of Dora's charm, and they do not stop her from being a happy, loving companion who also enjoys snuggling under blankets for a cosy nap.
Dora could potentially live with another small, friendly dog, provided introductions are done slowly and respectfully. She is house trained to use a pee mat and has proven to be very manageable in care. Dora is not a picky eater and enjoys her food, making her easy to please. With her sweet nature, confidence, adaptability and love of cuddles, Dora is a truly special girl who is ready to find a family that will cherish her just as she is.
