About Marlow
Introducing Marlow!
Marlow is a Maltese x Shih Tzu born 2nd May 2024.
A member of the public called the facility to say they had found three stray dogs who were roaming out the back of Maitland. Rangers went to the 'finders' house to scan the dogs for microchips.. only to find they were actually microchipped to the people who 'found' them. When confronted with this information they confirmed that these 3 'unknown strays' were their dogs from a litter 2 years ago. They were unable to continue caring for their multitude of dogs and had forgotten they'd had them microchipped as puppies.
Although he wasn't as matted as his brother, Marlow's fur was also completely matted, causing him a great deal of pain & discomfort. His owners claimed this was because he hated being groomed & would make it impossible to do, however when he was being clipped at the facility he literally just stood there & let it happen.. no restraint, no muzzle, nothing. He is now feeling fresh & much more comfortable with his new haircut.
Marlow has been a little shy since coming into us, however when you spend time with him he is a sweet little guy and his confidence is increasing every day.
Marlow tested quite well with other dogs. He really enjoyed meeting a female Dachshund, however he was a little shy when meeting a larger, boisterous female puppy. Once they came face to face though, he settled almost instantly & was happy to interact from then on. While Marlow may eventually settle into a home with no other animals, we believe he would be more comfortable having another doggy friend to play with as he's never lived by himself before. If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home. Alternatively, Marlow can be rehomed with either of his siblings, as they all get along very well.
Marlow has not been tested with cats & pocket pets like chickens & rabbits.
Marlow has shown no signs of food aggression since being at the facility.
Marlow has shown no signs of separation anxiety while he is housed with his siblings, however he becomes quite frantic when he's by himself.
If you think you could be that furever family for Marlow, please contact our friendly staff via email at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com or 0499 900272 to organise a meet and greet.
Marlow’s adoption fee is $850, and this includes his desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. Marlow is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Marlow is currently located in East Maitland.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
