About Rocky
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT FLY OUR ANIMALS WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Rocky - adoption fee $860 which includes all vet work and m/chip transfer
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender
BREED: American Staffordshire Terrier x
Breed Traits: American Staffordshire Terriers are high energy, playful, affectionate and intelligent but do require training as they can be headstrong. They are very social with adults and children and are extremely loyal but can suffer from separation anxiety if left for long periods and not raised with good training to grow confidence. Their sociability with dogs is a facet that needs sensible and careful work from an early age
**************************************************************************
ASSETS: Outgoing, hyper at times, independent, confident, friendly and playful.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Rocky loves to be around people for chest, ear and neck rubs. He’s in a foster home with his siblings and they love to play together and with rope and soft toys. He is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where he plays for a while then settles down for a snuggle and snooze before waking up and doing it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Rocky is a happy little chap who is a delight to be around! He is the smallest of the pups and especially endearing.
OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy, he will get on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introductions. He could live with a dog-savvy, confident cat, again after gentle introduction.
GENERAL INFO: Rocky will need training for pretty much everything being so young. Housetraining is underway but he still has some way to go to master it. Expect accidents while he’s settling into his new home and routine! He’ll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where he can learn and be social with other dogs - this is a commitment we will expect from his new owner. We expect these pups to be medium sized (the males may be slightly bigger) but there are no guarantees.
ESSENTIALS for Rocky:
** an active, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where he is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as he needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where he can run, play, sniff and explore in safety
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for him to learn and grow confidence – essential
** continued positive, gentle exposure and socialisation
Rocky will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will have medium energy as an adult dog.
Rocky could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 8 years of age, depending on experience (he has not been raised around children), who will play and interact with him but know when to give him space.
If Rocky sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
