Meet Lance, a stunning black and tan Kelpie boy who looks as though he has stepped straight off a Kelpie calendar.
Lance is a beautiful example of the breed — lean, athletic, alert and handsome, with those classic black and tan markings and bright, intelligent eyes. He weighs 23 kg, but is quite lean.
Lance came out of the pound on 9 July 2026 and was desexed the same day. He is currently in temporary emergency care, but he urgently needs either a foster home or, even better, a forever home of his own.
Despite all the recent change in his life, Lance has shown himself to be a simply gorgeous boy. His current carer has already nicknamed him the “King of the Cuddles”, which tells you a lot about his lovely nature.
Lance loves people, is wonderful with children and is great with other dogs, but untested with cats. He has beautiful manners and does not jump up on the children in his temporary home. He is friendly, affectionate and people-focused — the sort of dog who quickly works his way into your heart.
As a young Kelpie, Lance will suit a home that understands intelligent working-breed dogs. He will enjoy exercise, guidance, companionship and being included in daily life. He is not looking for a backyard-only existence. Lance wants to belong.
His ideal home will offer secure fencing, kindness, routine, and people who will appreciate both his clever Kelpie brain and his enormous cuddly heart.
Lance is desexed and ready for his next chapter.
He really is a beautiful boy — inside and out.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
