Yusef

At 10 months old, Yusef is a handsome young man who is experiencing a bit of a conflicting emotional journey here at the shelter. The busy environment has been quite overwhelming for him, and when people first approach, his nervous side can take overbut he will tell you he's feeling a little unsure and needs some space.

If you give him just a few quiet moments to realise he is safe, a completely different side of Yusef appears. As soon as he settles, this sensitive boy lets his guard down and instantly starts happily making biscuits on his blankets! It is his absolute favourite comfort activity and a sure sign that beneath his worried exterior lies a very sweet, affectionate soul just waiting to trust.

The way to his heart is through food and his treats. If you keep stocked up one those, you will find that he relaxes quite quickly.

Yusef is looking for a patient, understanding home where his family will respect his initial boundaries and give him the time he needs to feel secure. He will thrive best in a calm, predictable environment where he can decompress at his own pace. Once he knows he is safe in his new routine, those nervous responses will fade, and he will be free to knead his way right into your heart.
