Meet Rolo, a tiny little boy with a huge personality, a beautiful nature and the most extraordinary colouring.
Rolo is a very special puppy. His mum is a purebred Pug and his dad is a purebred Border Collie, giving him a wonderful mix of sweetness, smarts and character. He is people-loving, playful, happy and full of life.
Rolo’s coat is quite amazing — a gorgeous mix of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and snowy white. He even has a little white “Shepherd’s Lantern” on the tip of his dark chocolate tail.
Rolo loves people and enjoys the company of other dogs. In his foster home, he happily plays with the larger resident dog and is showing himself to be a typical active, cheerful puppy who enjoys life and takes everything in his stride.
Rolo was born with a congenital difference in his left front foot. His “thumb” and “forefinger” are separate and each have a nail, but the other three toes are conjoined and do not have nails. This can be seen in his photos.
Importantly, Rolo is not in pain. He is coping well, moving around happily, playing, exploring and behaving like the bright little puppy he is. However, his foot will need ongoing veterinary assessment as he grows. Because he does not have the benefit of a full set of nails on his left front foot, he may need some sensible management on rough surfaces, and very long walks or high-impact activity may not be suitable for him as he gets older. His adopters will need to be guided by veterinary advice, but at this stage Rolo is a happy, active little puppy who is enjoying life.
Rolo will need adopters who understand that he is both a normal, happy puppy and a puppy with a little difference. He may need some extra care, monitoring and sensible limits, but he does not see himself as disabled — and neither do we. He is simply Rolo: sweet, funny, loving and full of promise.
Like all puppies, Rolo will need patient training, socialisation, toilet training, boundaries, companionship and love. He is available under ARK’s Deferred Desexing Program, which means the cost of desexing is included in his adoption fee, subject to the terms and conditions of the adoption contract. His desexing must be completed when age appropriate.
Rolo will be available from Saturday 11 July 2026.
He is a beautiful little boy with an unusual start in life, but he is happy, loved and ready for the next chapter.
