About Penny
Some animals come into our care and leave a mark on our hearts forever. Phoenix and Penny are that kind of pair.
These two beautiful bonded kittens came into our care from a heartbreaking abuse and neglect situation. What they experienced before rescue was something no kitten should ever endure, and because they survived it together, their bond is deeper than we normally see in kittens this young. They are truly each other’s comfort, confidence, and support animal.
When Phoenix arrived, he was pink and grey instead of white and grey after someone had dyed his entire body bright pink, with no understanding, or concern, for how dangerous that could have been for such a tiny kitten. Penny arrived terrified, cowering and shrinking away from touch as though she expected every hand to hurt her. In their first few days in care, it also became clear just how desperately hungry they had been, with both kittens having eaten absolutely anything they could find and some very interesting poos!
Despite everything they had been through, both Phoenix and Penny have now been thoroughly vet checked and cleared for adoption. Apart from a faint pink tinge still lingering in Phoenix’s fur and some emotional healing still continuing, these babies are healthy, thriving, and finally learning what safety and love feel like. Now all they need is the perfect understanding home willing to continue showing them kindness together.
And what incredible little souls they are.
Phoenix is the sweetest, most affectionate little boy imaginable. All he wants is to love and be loved. He will gently place his tiny paws on your face, shower you with little kisses, and purr endlessly just to show how happy he is to be safe and adored.
Penny, meanwhile, is discovering the joy of simply being a kitten. She is playful, curious, and endlessly entertaining, happily chasing toys around her foster home. Her absolute favourite thing is spotting a fly, which sends her into adorable chirruping excitement as she desperately tries to catch it.
But above all else, Phoenix and Penny’s favourite thing in the world is each other.
They play together, sleep curled up together, comfort each other, and face the world side by side. Phoenix is gently teaching Penny that human affection can be safe and wonderful, while Penny is showing Phoenix just how much fun life can be when you finally feel free enough to play.
Animals never stop amazing us. Despite experiencing cruelty, fear, and hunger at such a young age, Phoenix and Penny have chosen love anyway. They have held onto their sweetness, their trust in each other, and their ability to heal. Watching them move forward from such terrible beginnings is a beautiful reminder of just how resilient and special animals truly are.
These kittens deserve a future filled only with warmth, patience, safety, and unconditional love. We know their perfect home is out there, one that understands how precious their bond is and will treasure them both for the rest of their lives.
Please note that Penny and Phoenix will need to be inside cats for safety. Cats and kittens with light noses and/or ears are more susceptible to getting sunburnt, and in turn, getting skin cancer.
All AWL NSW kittens and cats come litter trained, desexed, microchipped and will have received their first vaccination.
