Always a lady.
Always great company – with an affectionate personality. Audrey is calm and gentle, enjoying the company of her foster carer and others whom she meets.
Audrey is a sensible and sweet senior lady who can be taken to the local café, delighted to meet other dogs on the way. A nice head scratch from a passerby is well received.
She is a social little sweetheart who loves to explore while out walking.
This active little lady is only 11 kgs and delightful company as she enjoys a couple of 30-minute walks each day, sniffing at trees, begging to play a bit of fetch, and exploring the garden. She has a zest for life that belies her age. A very spritely dog for a 14-year-old.
A small courtyard would be sufficient for Audrey to access, if a yard isn’t available, as she enjoys spending time inside the home, and her daily walks with some ball play keep her stimulated. Going in and out of the house to toilet is no problem as the dog door to the backyard is used with ease.
Audrey is very fond of curling up for a peaceful snooze after a walk. She has settled in quickly, subsequently can happily relax after some exercise. In the evening there is an all-important head scratch as she intently watches television with the foster carer.
She loves company, but is still fine being home alone.
Outside noises, like a car pulling up, neighbours walking around, etc do not get this little lady barking. She is fine with noises. She probably has some hearing difficulty, but this doesn’t seem to affect her.
We know Audrey has lived with two border collies before, so is used to other dogs. She could live with another dog or happily as a singleton who goes out to socialise with other dogs. Not sure if she has been exposed to cats.
She's easy to groom and travels well in the car. Audrey sits when asked when her meal is presented. She is just so eager to please.
Audrey walks very well on a lead, does not pull and enjoys sniffing along the way. She sleeps well in a bed on the floor of the carer’s bedroom.
Audrey is a calm, gentle yet active sweet lady who would be ideal as a companion for someone who works from home; wanting quiet company but then a partner to have some exercise with. Good manners and house trained, Audrey should slot right in.
Audrey could be a suitable dog for a retired couple or a single person looking for a dog who is well behaved, loving and can be taken out and about without issues.
Fetching a ball is a great attraction for our little lady, but so is a nap afterwards!

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
