Luna

Luna is a 7-year-old pure blue female English Staffy. She has her original papers and is desexed snd microchipped. 

We’ve had her since she was just 8 weeks old. 

When she was a puppy, she received professional dog training, which continued until she was around 2-3 years old, with our other dog. 

She is crate trained, toilet trained, can sit, drop, stay, and is ok at loose lead walking. 
She has a whole feeding routine, will go to her bed/crate on command “place” then will stay there until told “free” to which she will then eat. 

She has always lived in a fenced house, small/ medium yard, has never ran away, except for one occasion when we left the gate open but she stayed by the front door.
She is good with a doggy door and will spend her days outside laying in the sun, or, on colder days, curled up in her crate or bed When we are home, she likes to stay in the same room as us. 

She has generally been walked 2-3 times a week except recently not so much, due to work and personal circumstances. She is fine around other dogs of good temperament, however reacts to other dogs that bark or lunge at her, especially smaller, yappy dogs.
If we identify this we place ourselves between her and the other dogs on the walk and tell her “No/Leave it”, while maintaining space with the other dogs and she will ignore the other reactive dogs. 
Luna has no issues driving in the car, however we noticed that on longer road trips she tends to not eat/drink as much as she normally would and seems like she gets a little nervous. She has been to the beach, rivers, and we’ve taken her camping.
She gets a little anxious around water however she doesn’t mind going in water as long as she can touch the ground. 

She likes to play ball, and will most of the time return it but we are super conscious of if there are other dogs around as we sometimes don’t know how she will react or if the other dogs are also safe to be around.

She is a classic Staffy and has as a very, very, very, loving, affectionate temperament, and she loves humans. And loves cuddles; if you start to pat her belly will just roll over straight away. 
If you pick her up she places her head on your shoulder and just loves human affection. 
She is good with kids but can get excited and does jump a little bit and licks.

She is healthy and up to date with her care. Around 2022/23 she swallowed a large seed that ruptured her small intestine and we thought we were going to lose her during this, but she is very resilient and she pulled through after having it surgically removed. 
She has a big scar on her belly as a result of this, however it has healed really well and can barely be noticed. The only minor medical issue she has is skin/dermatitis issues, with some minor hair loss/thinning. We have tried strict diets, allergy medicine, and testing to identify the root cause but nothing was found. 
She was eating a vet recommended meal plan with a mix of fresh food and kibble for a while but this also had no results, so she is now back on premium kibble. She is fed one full serving a day, usually in the afternoon, however feeding times vary and is not at a set times so she doesn’t get anxious about feeding times. 
She is also sometimes given a half scoop in the mornings and/or dental chew.

She has lived her whole life in a home with another male Staffy, that is one year older than her. Until recently, we had never experienced any issues with her living alongside our other dog but after moving homes twice in the last 4 years. 
With a change of dynamic and environments we have noticed they have started having sibling rivalry and have started fighting. 
This has occurred 4-5 times over the last 4 years, with blood being drawn. They have been vet checked post these and no medical issues from these occasions. We have tried to manage the situation, but we’re unable to rehabilitate this dynamic within our home, and with my wife being pregnant we can’t support two dogs, especially with Luna being higher energy. 

Luna is currently living with my parents to trial how she goes away from our other dog and currently has been away for 3 weeks living alone and has been fine with no issues.

She is a spoilt dog., We know the best thing for her is a single-dog household where she can be the only pet and receive all the love and attention she deserves. 

This decision isn’t being made lightly by my wife and I but we want her to go to a loving home and to someone who understands the staffy breed and can give her a stable, loving environment.

Luna weighs 13 to 15 kg and has no history with cats.
She needs a home with minimum 1.5m (5ft) fences.

⚠️ ASSISTED REHOMING ⚠️

This is an assisted rehoming which means that Animals In Need Brisbane (AINB) will advertise, contact applicants and pass on applications that meet the the criteria to the owner who will make the final decision on the rehoming of the animal. AINB may also be requested to undertake an inspection of the successful applicants property to confirm safety and suitability.

There is no adoption fee for assisted rehomings but we do ask for a donation (amount of their choosing) from the successful applicant  to AINB,  in recognition of the administrative and time costs incurred..
