About Arnold! ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ
๐ช Meet Arnoldโฆ aka Arnie Schwarzenegger! ๐พ
"I'll be back..." โฆhopefully from a meet-and-greet with my forever family! โค๏ธ
At around 40kg, Arnie is a stunning German Shepherd x Boxer with the very best of both breeds. He has the loyalty, intelligence and willingness to learn of a German Shepherd, combined with the goofy, affectionate and fun-loving personality of a Boxer.
The result? An incredibly well-balanced dog who has quickly become a favourite around the pound.
๐ Ready for meet & greets now and available to head home from 17th July.
โค๏ธ Why everyone falls in love with Arnie...
๐พ Walks beautifully on lead with only minimal pulling and listens exceptionally well to his handler.
๐ง Already knows sit and shake, is eager to please and absolutely loves training sessions. His intelligence makes him a pleasure to work with.
๐ฝ Already toilet and house trained, having previously lived indoors, and would love to be part of a family where he can enjoy both indoor comforts and outdoor adventures.
๐พ Toy obsessed! Give Arnie a Wiggle Ball, Kong or his favourite toy and he's one happy boy. He's so toy-focused that he often ignores the other dogs around him because he'd much rather be playing.
๐งธ Wonderfully independent and happy to entertain himself, making him an easy companion who doesn't constantly demand attention. While he loves affection from his people, he's equally content relaxing with his toys.
๐คซ Surprisingly quiet for such a big boy. He isn't a constant barker and is generally calm and settled in his yard, only becoming vocal when he's genuinely excited.
๐ Despite his size, Arnie is an absolute gentleman. He knows just how big he is, doesn't jump up on people and is incredibly respectful when interacting with those around him.
๐ถ What we've discovered at the pound
The more time we've spent with Arnie, the more impressed we've become.
He's shown wonderful manners around the other dogs at the pound and is completely non-reactive while out on walks. He happily walks past other dogs, stays focused on his handler and is easy to redirect.
We've also introduced him to Whippy, our beautiful brindle Greyhound, and he showed nothing but positive, friendly body language in short sessions so far.
When walking alongside other pound dogs, Arnie gets vocally excited to join in the adventure, but it's all happy, social enthusiasm. We've never seen any aggressive behaviour from this gentle giantโhe truly is a big softie.
While Arnie has previously lived as an only dog, we believe his calm nature and positive interactions suggest he could continue to build appropriate social skills with sensible introductions.
๐ก The home Arnie is looking for
Arnie would love a home with a secure grassed yard where he has room to stretch his legs and play with his toys. Due to his size, he wouldn't be suited to apartment or unit living.
He has not attempted to escape while in our care and has shown no destructive behaviours. Give him some toys, a comfy place to relax and his people nearby, and he's a very happy dog.
He's previously lived indoors and would thrive as a dog who can enjoy family life inside while still having access to a secure yard outside.
With his gentle nature and awareness of his size, we think he'll make a wonderful family companion. As always, any introductions with young children can take place at the pound.
โค๏ธ The perfect combination
Arnie really is the complete package.
One minute he's proudly patrolling the yard with all the confidence of a German Shepherd, and the next he's zooming around with a toy like the goofy Boxer he is. He has an excellent off switch too, happily settling down for cuddles or a nap after playtime.
He's loyal, clever, affectionate, easy to train, beautifully mannered and simply a pleasure to have around.
Dogs like Arnie don't come along every day.
If you've been searching for a loyal best mate who's just as happy joining you on adventures as he is relaxing at home afterwards, this handsome boy could be exactly who you've been waiting for.
๐ Come and meet Arnieโyou might just find your new best friend.
