About Koda
🐾 Meet Koda – The Gentle Shadow Who Loves to Cuddle 🐾
Koda is the kind of dog who steals hearts wherever he goes. Sweet, affectionate and incredibly people-focused, he loves nothing more than being close to his family. Whether he's following you from room to room, curling up beside you on the couch or flopping over for a belly rub, Koda is happiest when he's sharing life with his favourite people.
Still a young dog, Koda has a lovely balance of playful energy and an easy-going nature. He enjoys carrying his beloved stuffed toys around the house, gently tossing them in the air and proudly showing them off. He's also discovered that water coming from a hose is great fun to chase! Being very food motivated, Koda enjoys training and is already learning good manners and a range of basic commands, with "wait" being one he knows particularly well.
Koda has settled beautifully into home life and enjoys having a predictable routine. He's crate trained, fully toilet trained and will usually wait quietly by the door when he needs to go outside, although because he's so polite you'll need to keep an eye on him rather than expect him to bark. Once his exercise needs have been met, he's more than happy to curl up on a cosy bed, in front of the fire or, if allowed, right beside his favourite person. He definitely prefers warm, comfortable spots over cold or rainy weather!
With new people or unfamiliar situations, Koda can be a little shy at first, but his gentle nature shines through once he feels comfortable. He warms up quickly with kindness and reassurance and has a wonderfully submissive, affectionate personality. His current foster carer reports that he's been fantastic with their three children, happily joining in family life before settling down for cuddles and quiet time. In fact, he has formed a lovely bond with their almost three-year-old daughter, and the two adore each other. Koda was recently adopted, but the match wasn't successful because the family's 12-month-old daughter, for reasons known only to toddlers, was frightened of him from the outset. It wasn't a reflection on Koda's behaviour, and he has continued to demonstrate just how gentle and patient he is with children in his foster home.
Koda enjoys his daily walks and loves exploring the world with his nose. He's naturally curious, has a strong interest in scents and can become completely absorbed in investigating his surroundings. Because of this, he isn't a dog who can be trusted off lead in unfenced areas, and he'll need a home with secure fencing and owners who are diligent about gates and boundaries. His previous family adored him, but living on a rural property near bushland and the coast proved simply too tempting for this curious young explorer. Despite upgrading their fencing, the environment wasn't the right fit for him. In a secure suburban or semi-rural home where his curiosity can be safely managed, Koda is expected to thrive.
Koda has also been enjoying positive socialisation with other dogs, including successful daycare sessions, helping him continue to build his confidence around new canine friends. During his recent adoption trial, he also had a carefully managed introduction to the family's cat and was calm, relaxed and respectful throughout, suggesting he has the potential to live successfully with a cat given appropriate introductions.
Koda loves company and forms strong bonds with his people. He enjoys car rides, happily accompanying his family on outings, and would love to be included in everyday adventures. While he may cope with short periods alone, he'd be happiest in a home where someone is around for much of the day or where he can be involved in family life as much as possible.
If you're looking for a loyal companion with a gentle soul, a playful streak and endless affection to give, Koda could be your perfect match. All he needs is a secure home, plenty of love and a family who'll enjoy watching this beautiful young boy continue to grow into the wonderful dog he's already proving to be.
