Just imagine...
You're only 18 months old, and you've already had two homes.
One Sunday morning, the people you thought were your family decided they didn't want you anymore. Just a few hours later, your whole life had been packed up and handed over to strangers.
You wouldn't understand why.
Neither do we.
Maclary is an 18-month-old Mini Schnauzer x Mini Poodle who absolutely adores people. Wherever you are, that's where he wants to be. At your feet while you work, curled up beside you on the couch, or trotting happily alongside you on a walk. He's the kind of dog who just wants to be included in whatever you're doing.
He's funny, cheeky and full of personality. He'll happily have a little chat back to you, keep you laughing with his antics and then melt into your side for a cuddle. He's also incredibly smart and learns new things quickly with direction.
Maclary loves other dogs and would thrive with a confident canine companion. He can be a little clingy at first because he gets so excited to have a friend, but he has wonderful intentions and just wants someone to play and snuggle with. He also has no aggression towards cats. In fact, he'd happily spend all day as close to them as they'll allow, although not every cat shares his enthusiasm.
The only lasting reminder of being abandoned twice is that Maclary worries you'll disappear too. He can bark or cry when left alone because he's scared you won't come back. The good news is he's already learning that his people do return, and he's settling better and better every day. Soon, his big barks will only be to share his big opinions! (Of which he has plenty)
We think he'd be happiest with someone who works from home or is newly retired. Someone with a doggy friend for him, who wants a little shadow to join them on walks, cafe trips, adventures and lazy afternoons on the couch.
So.. we're looking for the family he should have had all along.
Not someone looking for a cute little dog for now. Not someone who sees him as a toy to pass along when they outgrow him.
Someone looking for a best friend for life.
Because after everything he's been through, Maclary deserves to know what "forever" really feels like.
