💔 A Heartbreaking Goodbye... Our Beautiful Tips Is Looking for Her Forever Retirement Home 🏡❤️
A Letter From Tips Family:
This is the hardest post we have ever had to write.
With broken hearts, we are looking for the perfect retirement home for our beautiful girl, Tips.
Due to an unexpected change in our family's circumstances, we must relocate back to Europe. From the moment we knew we would be moving, our plan was simple—we would take Tips with us. We researched everything, obtained transport quotes, and were determined to make it happen.
Then came the devastating news.
Because Tips is almost 11 years old, is a brachycephalic (short-nosed) breed, and has the fitness limitations that come with her age, our veterinarian strongly advised against flying her. The risk of her not surviving such a long journey is simply too high.
Hearing those words shattered us.💔💔
After many tears and weeks of trying to come to terms with the reality of the situation, we know that the greatest act of love we can give Tips is to let her stay in Australia and find a family who will cherish her for the rest of her life.
Meet Tips ❤️
Tips is a 10½-year-old Boxer x Bulldog who has been part of our family for almost four wonderful years.
She is, without question, one of the most loving dogs you will ever meet.
When our daughter was born, Tips welcomed her with endless patience, gentleness and love. She adores people of every age and every walk of life. Friends, neighbours, delivery drivers, tradies, pet sitters—even complete strangers quickly become her best friends. If you visit our home, expect Tips to greet you with hopeful eyes, a wagging tail and the expectation of plenty of pats.
She doesn't ask for much in life.
A comfy bed.
A full tummy.
A few short walks.
Lots of cuddles and butt scratches.
That's her perfect day.
Like many senior dogs, she enjoys spending hours snoozing in sunny spots around the house. Every now and then she'll grab her ball and surprise you with her signature bouncy Boxer zoomies—but after a few minutes she's happily back to another nap.
Before coming into our lives, we believe Tips spent much of her life being used for breeding and wasn't properly socialised with other dogs. Because of this, she isn't comfortable greeting unfamiliar dogs on lead, overstimulated and isn't suited to dog parks or off-lead areas. (She has never shown aggression.)
She has successfully made friends with a few calm, larger dogs over time, but introductions take patience. For this reason, we believe Tips would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up every bit of love and attention she deserves.
We adopted Tips through Tails of Forgotten Paws, who gave her a second chance at life and ensured she received the medical care she desperately needed, including BOAS surgery shortly after entering care. That surgery gave her a wonderful new lease on life.
Today, she's healthy for her age. She has routine blood tests every six months, takes joint supplements, is vaccinated, desexed, and simply enjoys the slower pace that comes with being a senior.
❤️🩷🧡We need a family that will be committed to keeping her healthy and provide her with vetcare when needed.
Tips is wonderfully easy to live with. She's fully toilet trained, sleeps peacefully in her own bed all night, and is perfectly happy being left home alone while you're out.
She's not looking for someone to hike mountains with.
She's looking for someone to share the couch with.
Someone who will smile every time she waddles over for another cuddle.
Someone who understands that senior dogs still have so much love left to give.
We know the family who adopts Tips won't just be giving a dog a home—they'll be giving a heartbroken girl the comfort, security and love she deserves for the rest of her days.
If you think you could be that special person or family, we would love to hear from you.
