Meet Mochi – A Beautiful Girl Looking for Her Forever Home
Mochi is a gorgeous 6-year-old Shepherd x Labrador mix who came into our family six months ago. She has become a much-loved member of our home, and making the decision to find her a new family has been heartbreaking. Sadly, despite our best efforts, Mochi has a strong prey drive and cannot safely live with our cat. Our priority is finding her a home where she can truly thrive.
Mochi is an absolute joy to live with. She has wonderful indoor manners, settles beautifully in the house, is completely non-destructive, and has never shown any desire to escape or wander. In fact, the only things she ever chews on are the toys you give her—especially tennis balls, which she considers a personal challenge! She is equally content relaxing inside with her people or enjoying time outdoors and is very comfortable being left at home without any signs of separation anxiety.
She is a clever, eager-to-please girl who genuinely enjoys learning and working with her people. Mochi already knows sit, paw, down, roll over, stand, spin, and bed, and she's always happy to learn something new. She walks beautifully on lead, checks in regularly with her handler, and is happy to leave an interesting sniff behind when asked. She responds well to calm guidance and positive reinforcement, making her a pleasure to take out. She's also a champion treat catcher, a talent guaranteed to make you smile!
Water is Mochi's greatest love. Whether she's swimming, chasing the garden hose, or splashing through puddles, she's at her happiest when she can get wet. She also loves a good game of fetch and would thrive with an active family who enjoys getting out and about together.
Mochi is a stunning dog with a sleek, shiny black coat, a little white patch on her chest, warm chocolate-brown eyes, and one delightfully floppy ear that gives her an endearing, slightly goofy expression. She has a big, impressive bark that makes an excellent security alarm, but underneath it she's a gentle, affectionate dog who simply loves being part of the family.
Like all dogs, Mochi has a few things she's still working on. She can be selective around other dogs, although we've already seen a noticeable improvement through regular group training and positive exposure. She also finds thunderstorms unsettling and does best with access to a quiet, secure space where she can relax until they pass.
Because of her size and enthusiasm, we feel Mochi would be happiest in a home without very young children. She has a very strong tail wag that could knock a small child over. She must be in a home without cats or other small pets due to her prey drive. Although we were told she had previously lived with cats, our experience has shown that she cannot safely coexist with them, and we want to ensure she is placed in an environment where everyone can be safe and happy.
In return, you'll gain an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion who is beautifully mannered in the home, loves adventures, enjoys training, and will happily curl up with you after a day of fun. Mochi has so much love to give, and she deserves a family who can embrace everything that makes her special.
She is incredibly healthy, up to date on her immunizations and on monthly heartworm and worming, tick and flea prevention. Strong and a perfect weight. Enjoys food but not demanding and very gentle. She will never take food not offered to her. She sits and waits until she is released to eat her meals.
