About Simba
Hello there! I'm Simba, and I'm officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR SIMBA
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/JPRZCx7Gzs9QD7ga6
Please Note: You'll only be able to meet Simba if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet.
My Ideal Home:
• I'll need daily exercise - walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors - not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I'd love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• Most importantly, I'm looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• When I get excited, I can be a little bouncy and mouthy, so any children in the home would need to feel comfortable and confident around an energetic, enthusiastic dog joining the family, i am a big strong boy so may accidently knock little kids over.
• Socialisation is just as important as training. Taking me to new places, introducing me to all sorts of people, dogs, and other animals will help me grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.
• I need to be the only dog in the home, as I can become jealous and may not share my humans well. I'm unfazed seeing other dogs while out on walks but i will choose to avoid them if possible, if interacting with other dogs i am happy to have a sniff and then move on.
• With a slow and thoughtful introduction, I may be able to live with a gentle, quiet cat.
• I have a high prey drive, so I'm not suited to homes small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, or ducks.
Pawsome Perks:
• I'm a very playful, happy boy with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I'm excited.
• I'm highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly.
• I've had some basic obedience training - I'm generally a well-mannered dog. I know my basic commands like sit and shake, and I'm always eager to learn more.
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I'm quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans.
• I'm exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure.
• I'm clever, enthusiastic, and would thrive with a family who'll continue my training and maybe even teach me some cool new tricks.
Training:
• Once I'm settled, I can walk nicely, but I am a strong boy and can pull hard on lead, so i will need someone phyiscally strong and a harness or head halter would really help while I continue my training.
• I can be a little bouncy when excited, but consistent training will help me learn calmer behaviours.
