About Sparky!⚡
Meet Sparky – The Quietest Soul Looking for His Safe Place 💙
Sparky is the most timid of our recent Kelpie rescues and the dog who has the longest journey ahead of him. While every dog deserves a chance, we're looking for someone who truly understands that trust can't be rushed—and that the biggest rewards often come from the smallest victories.
Like Kip, Pippi and Poppy, Sparky was bred to be a working Kelpie but never worked stock. He spent his early life tied up on a rural property with very little handling or socialisation, leaving him unsure of people and the world around him.
When Sparky first arrived in care, he was completely shut down. Although he's slowly beginning to show signs of curiosity, he remains wary of new people and unfamiliar situations. He isn't ready for pats or affection from strangers and will need plenty of time, patience and understanding before he feels safe enough to let his guard down.
We believe Sparky would benefit greatly from living with a calm, confident, desexed female dog who can help him build confidence and show him that life doesn't have to be frightening.
🏡 Sparky's ideal home:
• Experienced owner who has worked with fearful or anxious dogs.
• Someone who has previously trained a dog, or is committed to working with a qualified positive reinforcement trainer.
• Quiet rural or semi-rural home.
• No children under 18.
• Calm female dog companion optional
• Commitment to ongoing positive training, socialisation and allowing Sparky to progress at his own pace.
Sparky isn't house trained, has very little lead experience and is still learning the basics that many dogs never have to think about. His adopters should expect that settling him into a home will take time, and we strongly encourage building a relationship with a force-free trainer early to help guide him through the transition.
Sparky isn't looking for someone to "fix" him. He's looking for someone who understands that healing happens slowly, who can celebrate tiny milestones, and who won't give up when progress feels gradual.
This isn't a dog for someone wanting an instant companion. But for the right person—someone with experience, realistic expectations and plenty of patience—Sparky has every chance to become a deeply loyal friend. He just needs someone willing to believe in him first. 💙
Sparky is an extremely shy adult Kelpie seeking a calm, experienced home committed to helping fearful dogs. He isn't ready for pats from new people and will need time to build trust. No children or apartment/unit living. Farm background (hasn't worked stock) with very little handling. Adoption fee $450 includes desexing, vaccination, flea and worm treatment, and NSW registration.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
