Meet Flora, a beautiful young puppy with the most striking crystal-coloured eyes and a gentle, loving nature.
Born on 13 April 2026, Flora is still only a baby, but she is already showing herself to be a calm, easy-going and affectionate girl. Her foster mum describes her as a lovely pup who enjoys a snuggle and has a sweet, relaxed way about her.
That does not mean Flora is boring — far from it. She is still a playful puppy and loves a good game of tug-of-war. She has a lovely balance of softness and fun, with enough cheeky puppy energy to keep life interesting and enough calmness to make her a very appealing little companion.
Flora is best described as an American Bulldog / Staffy-type mix, possibly with Mastiff influence. She weighed 8.1 kg at just 10 weeks of age, so she is expected to grow into a medium-large to large, strong adult dog. Her new family will need to be committed to raising her properly, with kind guidance, early training, socialisation and sensible boundaries from the beginning.
Like all puppies, Flora is still learning about the world. She will need help with toilet training, lead training, manners, appropriate play, settling, and learning how to become a well-behaved family member. With time, patience and consistency, she has all the makings of a loyal, affectionate and much-loved companion.
Flora’s ideal home will have secure fencing, plenty of human company and a commitment to including her as part of the family. She is not a puppy to be left to grow up alone in the backyard. She needs love, guidance, indoor privileges and the chance to become the wonderful dog she is clearly capable of being.
Because Flora is expected to become a strong, substantial girl, applicants with experience raising larger dogs will be highly regarded.
Flora is available under ARK’s Deferred Desexing Program, which means her adoption fee covers the cost of desexing, subject to the terms and conditions of the adoption contract. Her desexing must be completed when age appropriate.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
