About Olive
Some kittens bounce into the world with endless confidence. Azuki didn't.
She arrived frightened, unsure, and convinced that the world was a scary place. Even in foster care, where she was shown nothing but kindness, she needed time. Time to watch from a safe distance. Time to learn that gentle hands don't hurt. Time to discover that people can bring good things.
Today, Azuki is still a shy little soul, but her foster carer has seen the beautiful kitten hiding beneath the fear. She loves her cat tree, where she can watch the world from a place that feels safe. She's not one for being picked up, Azuki much prefers to keep all four paws firmly on the ground, but when she's relaxed in her safe space, she'll quietly lean into gentle pats and show you just how much she wants to trust.
The quickest way to Azuki's heart? Food. Treats are pure magic to this little girl, and every tasty snack is another tiny step towards building her confidence. Azuki won't be the kitten who races to greet visitors or curls up on your lap on day one. She needs someone patient, gentle, and willing to celebrate the smallest victories, a curious sniff, a slow blink, a cautious step closer.
The heartbreaking thing about fearful kittens is that if they don't find understanding while they're young, the world only becomes bigger and scarier as they grow. Every month without a family makes it that little bit harder for them to learn that people can be safe.
Right now, Azuki is at the perfect age for someone to change her story.
With love, patience, treats, and a quiet home, you could be the person who teaches her that life doesn't have to be lived in fear. One day, she'll look at you not as something to be afraid of, but as her safe place.
The greatest gift you can give Azuki isn't just a home ...it's the chance to grow into the cat she was always meant to be.
Azuki is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Azuki - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
