Pixie - 1 Year Old Mini Fox Terrier

Pixie is a tiny but beautiful 1-year-old Foxie who is looking for a patient, understanding heart to show her how wonderful the world can truly be. Sadly, Pixie didn’t have the best start in life. Because of her less-than-ideal past, she is a very nervous little girl who is still learning that humans can be trusted.

Personality:
Gentle, quiet, and very nervous but eager to love. She will warm up to you, but this will take time and trust. Despite her fears, Pixie’s true nature is incredibly sweet. She is currently thriving in a loving foster home where she lives alongside a cat, a Jack Russell and a Chihuahua.
She does well in the company of other small, respectful dogs who can show her the ropes and give her confidence.
​While the big wide world can still be scary for her, Pixie absolutely loves the cozy comforts of home life. She can become overwhelmed quite easily.

The Ultimate Snuggle Bug:
Her absolute favourite place to be is curled up right in bed with you, sleeping soundly by your side or playing with her toys.

Motivated by Snacks:
She has a great love for treats! Tasty rewards are the quickest way to her heart and are a fantastic tool for her ongoing confidence training. She has had no training so far as she is still learning to trust human hands. Her toilet training is coming along nicely.

​Her Ideal Forever Home:
​Pixie is a homebody at heart. She does not particularly enjoy being out and about on walks or outings, and car rides are not her favourite, so she is looking for a family who is content with a quiet lifestyle.

Environment: A calm, predictable, low-input household. She prefers the safety of her indoor sanctuary and a secure yard over busy cafes or public adventures. A work from home family or another dog to keep her company during the day would be ideal.

​Family:
An adult-only home (or one with older, respectful teenagers) where she can move at her own pace. Having another small, confident dog in the home to keep her company would be a wonderful bonus.

​Patience is Key:
Her new owners will need to let Pixie come to them, this will take time. Watching a dog like Pixie transition from fear to total trust—celebrating the small victories like the first time she takes a treat or demands a spot on the bed—is one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable.

Pixie is in foster care in Cessnock, NSW. She is not available for adoption interstate.
Her adoption fee is $800 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
