About Coco
š¾ Meet Coco ā Your Loyal Shadow and Adventure Buddy š¾
If you're looking for a loving, energetic dog who wants to be involved in everything you do, Coco could be your girl.
Coco is a sweet, affectionate and slightly cheeky girl who forms strong bonds with her people. She loves being part of family life, whether that's heading out for an adventure, playing fetch or tug, or relaxing beside you on the couch. Once she's discovered the couch, she'll happily make herself comfortable right beside you!
At home, Coco is still very much a work in progress. She's clever and enthusiastic, but currently sees just about everything as a potential game or chew toy. She has a strong chewing instinct and can be destructive if left unsupervised, so she'll need plenty of appropriate, durable chew toys and someone willing to teach her good house manners. She can also become very excited and mouthy when playing or greeting people. This isn't aggression at all, but because she's a strong, enthusiastic dog, she can accidentally nip, so she's not suitable for young children. Older, dog-savvy children who understand how to interact appropriately with an excitable dog may be fine. Coco is toilet trained, travels well in the car and knows sit, paw, lay down, come and drop. She can be left for periods, but her ability to be trusted unsupervised for longer periods will need to develop as her house manners improve.
Out and about, Coco is energetic with a capital E! A 6km walk followed by plenty of ball chasing at the beach barely registered with her, so an active lifestyle with plenty of exercise and enrichment is essential. She loves chasing a ball or frisbee, enjoys tug and would make a great companion for people who genuinely enjoy getting outdoors. She's strong on lead and can pull, while her recall is still a work in progress, so secure areas are best for off-lead exercise for now. Around other dogs she's friendly and generally submissive. She may bark at dogs when restricted on a short lead if she'd prefer some space, but she's never shown aggression and is happy to move on or make friends when approached politely.
Coco can initially be cautious with unfamiliar people, particularly men, but given the opportunity to approach at her own pace she quickly relaxes. She's generally confident around household noises, although she has strong opinions about the vacuum cleaner! She has also shown an unusual fear response to a person wearing a high-vis rain jacket, so unfamiliar clothing or equipment may need to be introduced gradually.
Coco is a clever, adaptable girl who we believe will respond really well to patient, consistent training. She isn't the finished article and her new family will need to be prepared for a period of teaching, supervision and management while she learns appropriate house manners and how to channel all that enthusiasm. In return, they will have a loving, playful companion who genuinely enjoys being with her people.
Coco is being rehomed through no fault of her own due to her owner suffering unforeseen medical circumstances. This difficult decision has been made with Coco's best interests at heart, to ensure she can continue to receive the time, exercise, training and attention she needs.
If you're an active household looking for a dog with personality, energy and plenty of potentialāand you're prepared to put in the work Coco needsāshe could be a very rewarding companion.
