About Roland
ntroducing Roland, a very gentle, happy and affectionate little boy who will make a wonderful companion pet for the right household. This dog absolutely loves people, and he will form close bonds to members of his family; he is a typical Velcro dog.
Roland is a Jack Russell X and weighs about 8 kgs. He has put on a bit of weight in care while he was going through heart worm treatment, but he is now ready to increase the distance of his daily walks which he absolutely loves. Roland has a cute little stumpy tail and short legs; his face usually looks serious, but he is a happy little chap.
Since coming into care, Roland has learnt to walk on a lead which he loves and welcomes getting his harness on. He is in care with other dogs (male and female) and generally gets on well with all of them. He can guard his favourite person with a little growl, but the other dogs seem to laugh at him as he is much smaller than them. Roland loves all types of food and is definitely not a fussy eater. He is toilet trained and sleeps soundly all night. Roland will let you know if a stranger approaches the house, but he is not a yappy little dog. He also has excellent recall.
Because he loves company, Roland is best suited to a home situation where he has constant companionship. He will do particularly well with another small dog (preferably female) which is similar in size and an owner who is home more often than not. Although Roland loves going for walks, exploring the garden and playing outdoors with his foster siblings, he is predominantly an indoor dog; his favourite place is beside his people whatever they are doing. Roland turns 5 on 21st July 2026 so he is looking for a lovely family to help him celebrate this milestone. In August, Roland will need a visit to the vet to confirm that he is free of heart worm and Cairns Animal Rescue pay for this visit.
