Poppy

Poppy is a gentle soul with a heart of gold. This beautiful Golden Retriever x Maremma is looking for a special home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace and discover just how wonderful life can be.

Poppy's ideal home would include:

A friendly, confident resident dog/s to show her the ropes
An adult-only household
A large, secure yard where she can feel safe and explore at her own pace
A quieter suburban or rural environment away from busy inner-city activity
Someone able to comfortably lift her when needed (approximately 18kg)

Having had very limited life experiences, Poppy is still learning about the world around her. While shy and cautious, she is incredibly sweet and gentle. She has never shown any aggression towards people or other dogs and approaches life with a kind, soft nature.

One of Poppy's most endearing qualities is her love of other dogs. She absolutely blossoms in the company of canine friends and gains enormous confidence from having them around. A multi-dog home would be her dream, as she takes great comfort in following the lead of more confident dogs. In her foster home, she adores shadowing her older canine companion and patiently tolerates the enthusiastic play invitations of a younger dog.

Poppy is what we call a "slow burn" companion. She won't be the dog who jumps into your lap on day one, but for the right person, earning her trust will be incredibly rewarding. Given time, patience, and understanding, you'll have the privilege of watching her confidence grow and her personality shine through.

She is not yet comfortable walking on a lead and will need a family committed to letting her settle into her new environment before introducing new experiences. For now, she is happiest taking life one small step at a time, with plenty of reassurance from her humans and doggy friends.
