If you're looking for two loving companions who already know exactly how to be part of a family, then Allie and Skye may be the perfect match.
These beautiful girls are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They have shared their lives for many years and take great comfort from one another's company.
They have come into care through a sad change in their family's circumstances. They have clearly been loved, and our priority now is to find them a safe, stable home where they can stay together.
Allie is the gentle soul of the partnership. At eight years of age, she is slowing down a little and is perfectly content to spend much of her day snoozing in a sunny spot or relaxing near her people. She loves everyone she meets and has a wonderfully easy-going nature that allows her to fit comfortably into almost any household.
House-trained, excellent on lead and a pleasure to live with, Allie's biggest fault is that she will happily lie across your feet and refuse to move until she receives the pats she believes she deserves. She is affectionate, undemanding and simply a lovely dog.
Skye, at six years of age, still has a little more bounce in her step. Friendly, intelligent and full of personality, she adores people and is particularly fond of children. In fact, she sometimes loves them a little too enthusiastically and may need the occasional reminder to give them some personal space.
Skye knows her basic obedience, travels well in the car and is house-trained. She walks reasonably well on lead, although she can occasionally pull when something exciting catches her attention.
Like many confident dogs, Skye can be a little possessive of attention and would happily have every cuddle directed her way if she had the choice. She occasionally needs reminding to let sweet Allie have her fair share of pats and treats. During mealtimes she should be supervised, as she is more than happy to help herself to Allie's dinner if given the opportunity.
Both girls are good with children, travel well in the car, are respectful of fencing and have settled beautifully into foster care.
Skye requires slow introductions to unfamiliar dogs, but once settled she does well. Allie is relaxed and accepting of pretty much everyone.
The ideal home for this lovely pair will appreciate the special relationship they share and be willing to welcome both girls as valued family members. In return, you'll receive double the companionship, double the loyalty and double the love.

Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
Heartworm information:
Southern Downs is considered a low-risk area for heartworm and paralysis ticks, so ARK does not routinely administer heartworm prevention or tick treatment while dogs are in foster care. As parasite risks vary significantly between regions, we recommend that adopters consult their veterinarian regarding an appropriate prevention program for their area.
If you would like a heartworm test performed before adoption, please let us know.
