Steven arrived at GAWS as a stray, so much of his past remains a mystery. While he may have a tough, dignified Akita exterior, underneath is a sweet and affectionate dog who loves being around people.

Steven will thrive in a home where he can spend plenty of time with his family. He can be quite vocal when separated from his people, so a home with both indoor and outdoor access would be ideal. As his history is unknown, we are unsure whether he is fully toilet trained.

Steven is still learning independence and building trust, so he'll need a patient owner willing to help him settle into home life. Experience with the Akita breed would be an advantage, but it is not essential.

He may be suited to living with a carefully matched canine companion and seems to have a preference for female dogs. Steven has shown a strong prey drive toward cats, so a cat-free home is a must.

Steven may also do well with dog-savvy children aged 8 years and older who understand how to respectfully interact with dogs.
