Jalapeño is a striking teenager with a quiet, thoughtful nature and a story that’s shaped her cautious view of the world. Coming to us as a stray, she didn’t have the easiest start in life and is still learning that humans can be kind, patient, and safe.
While Jalapeño may never be a lap cat, she’s been making gentle progress at her own pace. She’s the kind of companion who prefers to observe before joining in, often found watching the world go by from a cozy, safe spot. What she lacks in bold affection, she makes up for in curiosity and playful spirit—she absolutely loves playtime and will happily entertain herself (and you) with toys.
Where Jalapeño truly shines is in the company of other cats. She adores her feline friends and takes great comfort and confidence from them. Because of this, she must go to a home with an existing friendly, confident cat or be adopted alongside another feline companion who can show her the ropes and help her continue building trust
Jalapeño is looking for a calm, understanding home where she’ll be given the time and space she needs to blossom. With patience and the right environment, you’ll have the privilege of watching this special girl grow in confidence and reveal more of her gentle personality over time.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
