About Syrup - 6 Year Old Domestic Short Hair
🐱 Meet sweet Syrup, a beautiful 6-year-old tabby tortoiseshell girl. 💜
Syrup came into care with her sister, K, and was so scared and shut down that she spent her first month hiding away in a cupboard. Over recent weeks she has started venturing out more, slowly rebuilding her confidence and showing us who she really is.
She has a truly unique coat, and most people who meet her comment that they’ve never seen a cat with quite the same colouring. While she may wear a serious expression, underneath it all she is a gentle, sweet-natured girl.
Syrup still prefers to observe the world from a safe distance at first, but if you sit quietly with her, she’ll often come over and grant permission for some pats. Before long, she transforms into a purring, affectionate cat who happily soaks up attention. She simply needs someone willing to take things at her pace.
Given time, patience and love, Syrup will become a loyal companion. Once she knows she is safe, her personality continues to blossom and it's clear she genuinely enjoys human company. While she isn’t a lap cat yet, with time I think she will become your shadow. She often wistfully looks at her carers bed, she hasn’t built up the confidence to hop up.
When it comes to dinnertime, Syrup forgets she is afraid and suddenly becomes one with the group and starts her high chirpy almost chimp like meows as she follows you around until she gets her dinner.
At 6 years old, Syrup is a wonderful housemate. She is litter trained, keeps herself tidy, and knows all the important cat manners.
Syrup will need to be an indoor-only cat. She would also do best in a home without young children, as loud or sudden noises can be quite frightening for her. A calm, quiet household with a few cosy hideaways where she can retreat and relax would suit her perfectly.
Syrup is polite and friendly with the two young 6-month-old foster boys she currently lives with, often greeting them with a sniff or a head bump.
She would likely be happiest as the only cat in the home, but with careful introductions and another cat that respects personal space, she may also do well sharing her home with a feline friend.
Her adoption fee is $150, and she is available for interstate adoption. She has been desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
She is in foster care in Hamilton, NSW.
