Turbo loves people! While he is happy and independent outside during the day when his people aren’t home, if his people are home, he wants to be with them every second that he can, snuggling on the couch, licking their faces, playing outside, or going for a walk together. When he is out and about with his family, he is eager to meet any humans or dogs that come his way. When he is outside, he likes having space to explore and play, a comfy spot to relax in, and something nice to chew on (like a hoof or a toy). He enjoys playing tug of war and chasing balls. Turbo loves exploring and getting out; a walk each day keeps him happy and makes him feel like part of the family. He is also happy to go for a drive, sitting with someone in the back, because it means he is with his people.
Turbo is a smart boy and understands “no” and “sit” and will follow these directions when they are given to him. He is energetic and playful but very quiet. We haven’t heard him bark once! He is a very bouncy dog and will need support with learning not to jump on people when he is greeting them. Turbo can get a bit mouthy when excited, so we encourage quiet inside the home and play outside. When very excited Turbo has been known to be a little “ humpy” lol but since his design this is subsiding as the weeks go by.
When Turbo meets other dogs, he is happy to see them and matches their energy. If they want to play, he will play; if they want to sniff, he will sniff. He has only met dogs while on his lead. A favorite activity is to chase magpies that try to eat his food.
Turbo is fully toilet trained. He doesn’t love bath time, but he is patient and tolerates it. A treat or two will keep him where he needs to be, and his fur comes up beautiful and soft after a lovely wash.
Turbo sleeps inside at night. He might get up and wander at night, but he is always quiet and is never destructive. He will be found every morning exactly where you left him, with a big smile on his face, waiting for a good morning greeting and belly rub.
Turbo is currently eating good quality dry food and enjoys the occasional treat.
Turbo’s ideal home is one where he is allowed to be inside when his family is home. An active family who will exercise him daily.
Turbo is fine if a family is away from the home and, from what we have observed, quiet during the day. Turbo will need a yard with a little space to sniff, so a grass area is required. No apartment living.
Turbo is best suited to older kids that are dog-savvy due to some excited mouthy behavior at times.
Turbo hasn’t lived with another dog in foster care but seems to enjoy play, so a female dog as a friend will be considered.
He has not been tested with cats
While he is independent when he needs to be, he really deserves and wants to be part of a family. He is energetic and loving, and you will see your love for him reflected in his happy little face.
