Hi, I'm Specs!

I'm a 1 year 11 month old American Staffy with a handsome grey coat, four gorgeous white socks, and a heart that's absolutely bursting with love. If you're looking for a best friend who wants to be by your side through thick and thin, I might just be your perfect match!

One thing you should know about me? I adore my people. In fact, I've been told I'm a bit of a shadow because I love following my favourite humans wherever they go. Whether you're making a cup of coffee, working in the garden, or relaxing on the couch, I'll happily tag along. And when it's time for affection, I'll gently lean right into you for cuddles, it's one of my favourite things in the world.

I'm a clever boy too! I already know how to sit, and if treats are involved, you'll definitely have my full attention. I'm always keen to learn and enjoy working together with my people.

Since arriving at the Lost Dogs' Home, I've been working closely with our dedicated Behaviour Team. When I first came in, I found it difficult to regulate my excitement and emotions around both people and other dogs. Through lots of positive training, patience, and support, I've made some incredible progress and I'm very proud of how far I've come.

These days, I'm much better at handling my frustration around other dogs. On walks, I can now disengage from dogs and refocus on my handler, and when meeting dogs appropriately, I can interact much more calmly. I've also become far more comfortable around unfamiliar people. Instead of getting overwhelmed, I now greet new friends with a relaxed approach and, best of all, I keep all four paws planted firmly on the floor like a true gentleman!

Because of my history and the support I still need, I'm looking for an adults-only home where I can continue building on all the fantastic skills I've learned. I'd also like to be the only dog in the household so I can soak up all the love, attention, and cuddles for myself.

My journey has shown just how capable, resilient, and eager to learn I am. I'll thrive with a family who appreciates all the progress I've made and is excited to continue helping me build confidence and good habits.
