About Teddy
Hello there! I'm Teddy, and I'm officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR TEDDY
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/smBCoq8K35gHiYE47
Please Note: You'll only be able to meet Teddy if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
General:
• I'll need daily exercise - walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors - not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I'd love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• Most importantly, I'm looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• I have previously lived with young children (7/8yrs old)
• When I get excited, I can be a little bouncy and mouthy, so any children in the home would need to feel comfortable and confident around an energetic, enthusiastic dog joining the family.
• Socialisation is just as important as training. Taking me to new places, introducing me to all sorts of people, dogs, and other animals will help me grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.
• Training, training, training - it's essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life so I can become the very best companion as I mature.
• Because I may have had a sheltered start and can be shy in new situations, continued socialisation will really help build my confidence. I'm already becoming braver at the shelter!
Puppy
• I'm still a puppy, which means I will chew, nip, have accidents, bark, and sometimes be a little destructive. With patience, consistency, and training, I'll learn - but I need a family fully committed to putting in the time and effort to help me succeed.
Dog Compatibility:
• I'd love a friendly dog playmate - or, if I'm your only dog, regular opportunities to socialise with other dogs.
• I enjoy friendly male and female dogs, but I can play enthusiastically - so a dog with a similar energy level would be ideal.
Cat / small animal:
• I was unsure around cats at the shelter and may become more inquisitive as my confidence grows. If I join a home with a cat, they'll need to be dog-savvy and introductions must be gradual and well managed.
Perks:
• I'm a very playful, happy pup with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I'm excited.
• I'm highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly.
• I'm very social and happy to hang out with other friendly dogs - total social butterfly!
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I'm quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans.
• I'm exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure.
Training:
• I haven't had any formal training yet, so I'll need help with all my basic manners and life skills (although I do know how to sit). The good news is I love food and toys, which will make positive training lots of fun and rewarding for me.
• I've only recently started learning to walk on lead at the shelter. I'm improving every day, but I can still be a little slow, erratic or fearful at times. With patience and regular walks, I'll soon gain confidence and enjoy my daily strolls.
• I can be a little bouncy when excited, but consistent training will help me learn calmer behaviours.
• I LOVE my food but seem to inhale it so using a slow feeder bowl will be beneficial, I will also need to be fed separately to any other animals in the home.
