About Hattie
Hattie is a beautiful, gentle girl who might not be the first kitten to climb into your arms, but she might just be the one whose trust means the most when you earn it.
She came into foster care very unsure about humans and, week by week, we've watched her become braver. She now happily follows her foster carer into the bathroom, sits beside her on the couch and chooses to spend time close to her humans. She's even beginning to discover that pats can feel rather nice!
Hattie isn't quite ready to be a cuddly lap cat yet. Human touch is still something she's learning to trust, and being picked up can frighten her. What makes her progress so special, though, is that she wants to be involved. She doesn't hide away from life or mind having humans around, she wants to sit nearby, watch what's happening and be part of the family. She just needs someone patient enough to let the physical affection happen at Hattie's pace.
Underneath that shy exterior is an incredibly playful and slightly mischievous little kitten. Hattie loves toys, chasing balls, climbing, zooming around the house and watching Cat TV. She also takes great joy in knocking things over and has discovered that sitting behind the television is apparently an excellent place to hang out.
Her newest discovery is the heater. Hattie is now a devoted fan of stretching herself out in front of it and soaking up every bit of warmth she possibly can.
And then there's food. Hattie LOVES food.
Breakfast? Excellent. Dinner? Even better. Churus? Possibly the greatest invention of all time. And if her sister happens to leave some food unattended, Hattie is more than happy to make sure nothing goes to waste.
Hattie is litter trained, sleeps well and is comfortable being home while her foster carer is at work.
Hattie needs a patient and gentle family who will celebrate the little milestones: the first pat she asks for, the first time she doesn't move away, the first time she decides to come that little bit closer.
She isn't a kitten who should be forced into affection. Give her time, consistency and the freedom to make her own choices, and you'll get the incredibly rewarding experience of watching her realise she's safe.
Her greatest source of confidence is her sister, Beanie. Hattie watches what Beanie does, learns from her and takes reassurance from having her nearby. The girls play together, cuddle together and have grown into the sweetest little team. For that reason, our dream would be for Hattie and Beanie to find their forever home together. Beanie can keep showing her little sister that humans aren't so bad, while Hattie can continue becoming the brave little cat we're already starting to see.
Hattie just needs someone willing to give her the time to bloom.

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. An Adoption enquiry should be made via
https://form.jotform.com/shellys.place.rescue/adoption-enquiry
2. Once your application has been received, one of our volunteers will contact you for a phone interview. This is to determine whether one of our cats or kittens will be a good fit for your home. We all want long-term success in placing rescue animals, so finding the best fit for the animal AND the family is very important.
3. 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place if the application is approved.
4. A property check will take place via a video. Once this has been successfully completed, adoption paperwork finalised and the adoption donation processed, the pet can be collected from foster care.
5. A 14 day settling-in period commences once the animal has been collected from foster care.
6. Adoption is finalised after 14 days. Paperwork/records will be included in an adoption pack.
7. All animals will be rehomed desexed, 1st vaccinated, microchipped and treated monthly for fleas and intestinal worms. Once the adoption is finalised, the new owners are responsible for all vaccinations and preventative treatments.
As we are run entirely of volunteers we endeavour to respond to your enquiry as soon as we can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to hold any animals. Please only apply if you are ready to adopt now.
