About Shelby
Hello there! I'm Shelby, and I'm officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR SHELBY
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM

My Ideal Home:
• I’ll need daily exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• As a social and playful pup, I may really enjoy attending doggy daycare.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Most importantly, I’m looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• When I get excited, I can be a little bouncy and mouthy, so any children in the home would need to feel comfortable and confident around an energetic, enthusiastic dog joining the family.
• Training, training, training — it’s essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life so I can become the very best companion as I mature.
• I absolutely love other dogs! I’m energetic and playful, so I’d thrive with a dog who matches my enthusiasm.
• I need a doggy companion to keep me company when my family isn’t home, or a household where someone is around most of the time. I can feel lonely and a little anxious when left alone, which may lead to barking or destructive behaviour.
• I have a high prey drive, so I’m not suited to homes with cats or small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, or ducks.
My Paw-some Perks:
• I’m a very playful, happy pup with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I’m excited.
• I’m highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly.
• I’m very social and happy to hang out with other friendly dogs — total social butterfly!
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I’m quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans.
• I’m exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure.
• I LOVE to play with my humans, a game of chase is my favourite, then lots of cuddles and wrestling.
Training & Support Needs:
• I haven’t had any formal training yet, so I’ll need help with all my basic manners and life skills. The good news is I love food, which will make positive training lots of fun and rewarding for me.
• Once I’m settled, I can walk nicely, but I may pull if something grabs my attention or if I decide I’d like to head in a different direction. I can also be strong, so a harness or head halter would really help while I continue my training.
• I have shown some resource guarding around high value treats and my food around other dogs here at the shelter (I'm fine with my people) so if I'm going to a home with another dog I must be fed separately until I learn that I don't have to protect my food, with patience, consistency, and positive training, this is something we can continue to work through together.
Please Note: You'll only be able to meet Shelby if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
