🐱 Bruce
Male | Desexed | Microchipped | Approx. 2 years | 2 vaccinations
Meet Mr Bruce ❤️
Bruce is a small little dude with a huge personality,l. His foster mum calls him the Love Bug.
After spending his early life on the streets, Bruce needed approximately one scratch behind the ears to decide that he was completely finished with outdoor life.
He has now fully committed to soft beds, food bowls that magically refill, and having a human around to adore.
Bruce wants to be near his person, preferably close enough to stare directly into their eyes while purring and making biscuits. He waits for you to move your face a little closer so he can deliver a series of nose-boops, because Bruce does not believe one kiss is ever enough.
Bruce is Mr Chirpy. He has the best little conversations and loves to chat with his person. Once he knows you’re his safe person, you’ll hear all about his day in a constant stream of little chirps, especially when he wants your attention, food, or preferably both.
Bruce is also discovering that indoor life has more to offer than soft beds and full food bowls. He is learning to play and is starting to show off his zoomies, pounces and growing confidence. He is still figuring out what all these toys are for, but when he gets going, his little bursts of energy are very cute to watch.
At nearly 4.5 kg, Bruce is a small guy compared with some of the enormous tomcats in his old neighbourhood. But he has no shortage of personality when it comes to occupying your lap, bed or personal space.
❤️ Bruce and his people
Bruce is still new to humans, so strangers are a little daunting for him. Loud noises and sudden movements can make him nervous too.
But when it comes to his person, Bruce is a completely different cat. Once he knows you, his trust is absolute. A little reassurance is all he needs before he’s back by your side, chirping away and looking for attention.
He would suit a single person, couple or family with older, calmer children who can give him a little time to settle in.
🍽️ Bruce has discovered food
Bruce will happily eat an entire day’s food in one sitting and then look at you as though he hasn’t been fed in weeks.
Given half a chance, he’ll also attempt to self-serve. Tupperware containers are not necessarily safe. If Bruce can knock one over and work out how to remove the lid, you will find one extremely happy boy with an extremely full tummy.
He can also become a little competitive when another cat has food. Bruce genuinely wants feline company and will happily sit beside another cat, but if he has already demolished his own meal and can see or hear someone else still eating, his tiny street-cat brain can decide that this situation is deeply unfair.
He may become swipey or sulky, but this is primarily a food issue, rather than Bruce disliking other cats. Sensible food management and separate feeding would be important in a multi-cat home.
🧴 And then there are the treat tubes…
Bruce is a tube addict.
The instant he hears the top being ripped off, he can appear in approximately 0.3 seconds, chirping enthusiastically.
He will climb all over you to get every last drop and grab your hand to physically move it closer.
He is, without question, the Mini Tube Demon.
🏡 What Bruce would love in an owner
* Someone patient enough to let him build confidence with new people
* A person who enjoys having a cat who genuinely wants to be close
* Daily time for Bruce’s favourite activity: staring lovingly into your eyes while purring and making biscuits
* Someone who appreciates a very chatty cat
* Soft beds and comfortable places to nap
* Short play sessions and opportunities to practise his new zoomie skills
* Sensible food management and secure food storage
* Separate feeding if living with another cat
* A calm household without lots of loud noises or sudden movements
* Someone prepared to accept that treat tubes are now part of the household budget
Bruce has excellent litter habits and has had no accidents or marking.
He has come a long way from the wary little street cat who first arrived in care. He has discovered soft beds, reliable meals, toys, affection and, most importantly, that humans can be trusted.
Now he just needs his person.
The person who will look into those big eyes, tell him how soft and lovely he is, listen to his daily chirpy commentary, and understand that if they ever open a treat tube, Bruce will be there before they are.
Small cat. Big heart. Huge opinions about food.
That’s Mr Bruce.
