About Rocky
Rocky is a charming little gentleman with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This sweet, affectionate boy has found himself looking for a fresh start after ending up neglected and on death row at a rural pound — something no dog deserves, especially one as loving as Rocky.
Despite everything, Rocky has remained incredibly kind, trusting and full of love. He adores human company, enjoys affection, and still has plenty of spark left in him for adventures and fun.
As a true Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, Rocky comes with all the wonderfully quirky breed traits that make PBGVs so lovable (and sometimes hilariously stubborn!).
He still enjoys his daily walks, sniffing adventures and playtime, and would especially love a friendly medium-sized dog companion to potter around and play with at home.
Things to know about Rocky ❤️
Rocky is a genuinely sweet and loving boy, but we believe in honest matchmaking to help him find the right forever family.
Prey drive: As a hunting breed, Rocky has a high prey drive, so small animals, pocket pets, chickens or cats are not recommended. Walks will need to be on lead and secure fencing is important.
Recall: Like many bassets, Rocky believes selective hearing is a lifestyle choice! His recall is not reliable, so he will need a secure environment and should not be trusted off lead.
Toilet habits: Rocky may occasionally wee indoors, particularly during transitions or changes in routine. A patient home willing to manage this kindly and consistently would suit him best.
Vocal nature: Rocky likes to express himself and can be vocal, which is very typical of his breed. He may not suit apartment living or homes seeking a very quiet dog.
