Meet Roxy, Our Sweet Senior Girl
This lovely senior lady is settling beautifully into foster care and proving to be an easygoing, affectionate companion.
She enjoys human company, seeks out pats and attention, and greets everyone with a happy wagging tail. While she's friendly and social, she also has an independent streak and likes to do things on her own terms.
She will hold back initially while she susses you out first of course, like a sensible dog. She will walk up to you but then likes a pause before being patted. She has done very well in a large group at home and with children.
As an older dog, she has some stiffness in her back legs, particularly after resting, and would be best suited to a home without lots of stairs or jumping. Despite this, she's bright, happy, and still enjoys her daily walks and occasional bursts of "old dog zoomies."
She walks reasonably well on lead, gets along nicely with other dogs, and has shown excellent manners around cats. She is gentle with food, shows no signs of resource guarding, and has settled well into home life.
One of her most endearing quirks is her version of fetch—she loves the game but isn't quite sure about the chasing part! Toss a ball gently to her and she'll proudly pick it up, looking very pleased with herself.
She sleeps soundly in her own bed, appears house-trained, and has quickly become a relaxed, content member of the household.
This sweet girl would suit someone looking for a calm, loving companion to share gentle walks, cosy naps, and plenty of affection.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

We look forward to receiving your application.
