About Budd
🐾 Meet Budd – A Loyal Mate Looking for a Fresh Start 🐾
Budd is a handsome, affectionate boy who has found himself needing a new home due to changes in his owner's circumstances. He's had a lot of uncertainty recently, but after spending time with our trainer and behaviourist, we're pleased to say Budd is far more settled than first thought.
Budd is fully toilet trained with no accidents in his foster home. He walks beautifully on lead, travels well in the car, and already knows commands including sit, paw and recall to a whistle. He enjoys his daily walks, loves spending time with his people, and thrives on routine.
Budd isn't shy about letting you know when he's excited – especially if you're taking a little too long to get ready for a walk! He can be quite vocal in anticipation, but it's simply his way of expressing his enthusiasm. He's also a keen bird watcher and will enthusiastically supervise the local birdlife!
Budd can be a little shy when meeting new people and may bark when they first arrive, but it's simply his way of announcing visitors while he works out the situation. Once he's had a chance to assess things, he's happy to do his own thing. In foster care, when guests visited, Budd chose to retreat to a spare bedroom for some quiet time before later wandering past everyone to enjoy the backyard. He doesn't feel the need to be the centre of attention and appreciates having space to relax.
Having previously been attacked by another dog, Budd is understandably cautious around unfamiliar dogs. He may bark or pull when he first sees one, but he responds very well to calm, confident guidance and is easily redirected. Rather than avoiding other dogs altogether, Budd is benefiting from learning that he can calmly walk past them without needing to interact. He would be happiest avoiding off-lead dog parks or situations where unfamiliar dogs may rush up to him.
Budd has previously lived with another dog, where he was the more submissive companion, but we think he'd currently benefit from being the only dog in the home while he settles and rebuilds his confidence. He is not suitable for a home with cats.
Budd would suit a quieter household with older children or teenagers who can respect his space while he settles in. He'll flourish with a family who can provide regular exercise, play, clear boundaries and predictable routines.
This lovely boy has so much to offer. Beneath his cautious first impression is a devoted companion who's simply looking for someone to help him feel safe again. If you're willing to give Budd a little patience and consistency, you'll be rewarded with a loyal best mate.
