Daisy is a Domestic Short Hair born approx 19th May 2024.
Daisy, Daisy, Daisy, what can we say about our gorgeous girl?
Does she like dogs? No.
Does she like cats? Absolutely not.
Does she like children? No.
Does she like adults? A selected few, yes.
Is she playful? Not really.
Does she like treats? Absolutely.
Is she a lap cat? She could be.
Does she bite? Yes.
Does she have a mean RBF? Yes.
Do we still love her anyway? Of course, yes.
You might be reading those points thinking "geez, who's gonna want a cat like that?". Well.. have you ever heard of the term "treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen"? She is the epitome of that saying and we are all living proof that it works, because here we all are.. standing by her side with loving unease, waiting with nervous anticipation for the love bite she excitedly inflicts on all of us.
Don't get us wrong, she can be an incredibly affectionate girl. She purrs, she rubs all over you, she gives you head boops, she'll fall asleep on your lap.. but (like all of us) she has intrusive thoughts.. the difference is she lets those intrusive thoughts win.. a lot. Touch her tail? Get a munch. Ignore her when she wants attention? Munch. Stroke her while she's trying to sleep? Munch. At any given time, she will have a nibble and keep moving. In fairness, they're not hard bites and they don't cause any damage, but she will need an "owner" who's a glutton for punishment or has a submissive personality.
Daisy will need someone who understands that love isn't always cuddly, sunshine & rainbows. She needs someone with thick skin (both metaphorically and literally), who understands this is a part of who she is and won't scold her for it.
We have never seen a cat with such a deep, burning hatred for other cats before. Because of this, Daisy will need to be the only animal at home and for the safety of other cats in the neighbourhood, she will be rehomed to a family who will keep her as an inside cat only.
Underneath all of her "undesirable traits" though, is a cat who lost her home (or never had a loving home to begin with), who has worked incredibly hard on trusting humans and is still deserving of a soft place to land. While we would prefer this to be in a loving home, she could also be perfect for keeping the rodent population down in an enclosed warehouse or barn.

Her adoption fee is $75 & this includes her desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. She is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Daisy is litter trained and she is currently located in East Maitland.

If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
