About Dorothy STA014814
Dorothy is a gentle, affectionate young senior lady who finds joy in life’s simple pleasures. She absolutely adores being brushed and will happily soak up all the attention you’re willing to give. While she’s not a lap warmer, Dorothy prefers to keep you close company—settling beside her person where she feels safe and content.
Once she’s had time to settle into her new environment, Dorothy’s curious nature begins to shine. She enjoys quietly exploring her surroundings and then curling up in her favourite warm spot—especially tucked under the doona, where she feels cosy and secure.
Dorothy’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. When she first came into care, changes were noticed in the pigmentation of her left eye. Following a specialist consultation, she was diagnosed with feline diffuse iridial melanoma (FDIM), and as a result, her left eye was surgically removed. Dorothy has recovered beautifully and has adapted incredibly well to life with vision in just her right eye.
She navigates her world with confidence, but she will need a home that understands her needs. Approaching her with gentle sounds or soft voices helps ensure she doesn’t get startled, and in return, she’ll reward you with trust and companionship.
For her safety, Dorothy must be an indoor-only cat.

Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
