About Sylvia
Meet Sylvia – A Gentle Soul Ready to Bloom
Sylvia is a beautiful, soft-hearted 1.5-year-old female who has spent almost her entire life living wild in a backyard. Since she was a tiny kitten, kind humans have fed her every day, but she remained shy and distant, never quite trusting enough to come close. When her caregivers finally decided to give her a chance at a safer, better life, they gently caught her, had her desexed and vaccinated, and brought her inside for the first time.
For the past three weeks, Sylvia has been bravely adjusting to indoor life. She’s never been aggressive, not once. When she feels unsure, she simply makes herself very small and may offer a tiny warning hiss, but she has never bitten or lashed out. She’s a gentle girl who has already shown us glimpses of her sweet personality: slow blinking at her caregivers, relaxing enough to sleep in the same room as people, and even grooming herself while humans are present. These are big, hopeful signs from a cat who has known so little human touch.
She enjoys perching up high where she feels safe, playing with a wand toy by intently watching and following its movements, and she’s been perfectly consistent with her litter box, eating, and drinking. Sylvia responds beautifully to patience, calm voices, slow movements, consistent routines, and sitting at her level rather than standing over her. She already recognises her caregivers and clearly appreciates a peaceful environment.
Sylvia is like a delicate flower that has grown in the shadows. With a little extra time, space, and love, she will slowly open up and reveal the loving, trusting little lady she’s meant to be. She needs a quiet, stable home with a patient and understanding person (or couple) who won’t rush her, but will instead let her set the pace. Someone who understands that the greatest reward is watching a once-timid cat grow in confidence and finally choose to seek out affection.
If you have a calm heart and a gentle home, Sylvia could be your perfect match. She has so much love waiting inside her, she just needs the right person to help her feel safe enough to share it.
She is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find her forever person.
If you feel called to give this special girl the patient, loving home she deserves, please reach out. The right match for Sylvia will be someone who sees her not as a “project,” but as a precious soul worth every bit of the time it takes for her to blossom.
We can’t wait to see her finally shine. 💕
Currently located in the Melbourne CBD with her amazing foster mum.
About Us
Urban Feline Australia is a small, independent cat rescue dedicated to saving surrendered cats from kill shelters and finding them loving, permanent homes.
Founded and run by a passionate animal lover with the support of dedicated friends and volunteers, we specialise in caring for cats that have previously lived in family homes but, for various reasons, can no longer stay with their owners.
Since our inception, we have been fortunate to build a small but dedicated network of volunteer foster carers. These compassionate individuals welcome the surrendered cats into their homes, providing them with love, care, and a safe environment while we search for their perfect forever families.
As a tiny, grassroots rescue with no government funding or large facilities, every rescue is powered by compassion, community support, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.
All adoption fees and donations go directly toward the essential needs of the cats in our care — including premium food, veterinary treatment, litter, equipment, and ongoing medical support. We rely heavily on the generosity of our foster carers, volunteers, and supporters to continue our work.
Our long-term vision is to expand so we can help even more cats in need. This includes securing a larger dedicated property and, one day, possibly opening a cat café to raise awareness and funds while creating a welcoming space for cat lovers.
How You Can Help

We are always in need of foster carers. If you have a safe, loving temporary home and would like to help us care for a cat on their journey to their forever family, please get in touch. The more foster homes we have, the more cats we can save.

Adoption details
We try to make things very easy and straight forward while at the same time making sure we are matching the right cat to the right home.
The first step in the adoption process is a quick chat over the phone to make you are able meet the cats needs and your home is a good fit for the cats personality.
From there we will organize a meet and greet the cats foster home where you will be able to see the cat in action and get a gauge of their personality.
Once you have adopted you new furry feline friend we offer ongoing support and you are welcome to contact us anytime if you have questions, concerns or need advice.
We work hard to make sure that each cat is a good fit for their new home but in the unlikely even that things do not work out we have a 21 day cooling off period and you are more than welcome to return the cat to us during that time.
We will happily refund 50% of the adoption fee or you are welcome to donate this refund to assist with the ongoing cost of the animals care.
