MY PERSONALITY
A kind, sweet and expressive girl — tolerant, friendly and affectionate.
At 5 months, this pedigreed pup is house-trained, crate-trained, and already knows sit, stay and a solid "wait." She loves cats, dogs and everyone, adores her walks and tree-sniffing, and grows more confident every day.
THE VELCRO DOG, IS IT A THING?
A true Dobermann "velcro" girl, she's a soft-footed shadow who thrives on cuddles and one-on-one time. She enjoys her daily enrichment — food hunting in the grass, supervised treat puzzles, working for her food, and following commands. Can you continue this at home?
DOBERMANNS, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE YOUR HOME
She's happiest inside with cool air, soft beds and company, and loves the shaded yard with fresh water and toys. She suits a calm, kind-but-firm older female Dobermann or large-breed female companion, or can be solo with a puppy-appropriate routine (we can help). Now past a hard teething phase, she's sensitive, and best sleeping inside at night, crated for naps, with safe spaces and thick bedding for the large girl she'll become.
TRAINING AND OBEDIENCE
Have you trained a dog in obedience before? It must continue in her new home.
Can you provide structured play and games to help her develop into a confident, kind, and well-mannered girl?
HOW TO TEACH DOG LANGUAGE - PACK THEORY
Learning about pack theory is important for your home to help you avoid puppy-raising mistakes. We use pack theory in our structured play and games (as explained in our Adoption Booklet) to create well-socialised and loving Dobermanns.
FOOD AND DIET
Can you provide fresh raw food and quiet spaces to rest and grow?
LIVING WITH CHILDREN
She hasn't lived with children, so we'll only consider homes with children who've successfully lived with large-breed dogs and respect her space and rest. (NHFD policy: no children under 10 unless experienced and/or supervised by experienced adults.)

WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO APPLY IF YOU ARE A HOME WITH....
***We encourage retirees with large-breed experience; people on hobby farms or estates; and applicants who'll meet their contract obligations and supply licensed referees (vets) plus evidence of previous large-breed experience.

PLEASE NOTE:
We are unable to adopt our Dobermanns to share houses/flatmates; apartments, units, or small townhouses; non-permanent residents; guard-dog or security-working-dog uses; anyone who'd tether a Dobermann; those who won't honestly disclose details; applications without references; or anyone previously convicted of animal abuse or other crimes.

Adoption details
We have an adoption process which refers to the questions in each Dobermann's profile.
The questions will help you understand each Dobermann's need across the areas of care of importance whilst in care with us and for their ongoing maintenance in your home.
After considering these against your work, family and lifestyle schedule, please message us via PetRescue Messaging; we'd love to hear from you.
Our process is straightforward.
We follow up on your PetRescue message with a phone call appointment (scheduled) to discuss your interest and build a working relationship with you.
We look forward to highlighting your Dobermann of interest and can present other Dobermanns who may be a more suitable fit.
A follow-up phone call/video call to answer your questions (usually after 5 pm on weekdays or by arrangement on weekends) after you've had time to consider all Dobermanns.
Our selection criteria are clear and transparent.
We will do a home check before we approve the adoption and further communications via phone call/facetime to finalise any outstanding questions you or we may have.
A veterinary referee or a professional referee is needed.
We will ask for your vet's name and contact details as a reference, plus other supporting documents, including rental housing approval at your current address from your leasing agent or landlord for a large breed dog.
Once we approve the adoption, the adoption fee, associated documentation and adoption contract are finalised, ownership transfer is forwarded to you and supporting veterinary records are sent to your vet.
